    Friday Klatch?

I haven't much felt like klatching the last couple of weeks but today I do. We had a major thunderstorm come through last night that was right overhead and noisy as can be so I'm still trying to down enough coffee to wake up this morning. Now the skies are the most gorgeous Colorado blue and from my office window I can't see any clouds. It's only about 66 degrees here and I'd be perfectly happy if it stayed that way but it's supposed to get up to the low 80s.

Well, this weekend should be interesting. Tonight I'm baking some cookies to surprise the new boy I've been seeing. He really likes peanut butter and chocolate stuff and we're heading into the mountains tomorrow so I thought it would be nice to take some goodies along. We've been emailing and then gone on a few dates over the last month and he seems like he could be a winner. So, I'm crossing my fingers and going with the flow. We may end up doing something on Sunday as well. It's been a long time since I truly felt courted so this is fun an flattering and I have a huge smile on my face when I think about him.

So, what is everyone else up to?

OOOHHH, good luck with the boy Robyn! How exciting!
    It sounds beautiful there!

We've had rain all week and temps in the low 60's. It's now hot and humid and nearing 90. Good times.
Tomorrow is DH's 30th birthday party so I'm leaving work early to get some last minute things and to start making food. We've been making stuff all week and freezing it. Can't wait until this is over! But we have a lot of friends from out of town and here coming so it'll be a lot of fun!

    I agree...Robyn that is exciting!

Linsley, have fun at your hubby's bday party! Is it a surprise? I've been planning a surprise party for my hubby...we're doing it at a mexican restaurant and I just ordered a sombrero for him to wear at the party, he's going to kill me...hehehe...I'm thinking of getting a theme cake made...a pinata or a sombrero or something along those lines...it should be hilarious!

Tonight we're going to a friend's house for dinner...I made the ricotta cheesecake that's topped with berries from CL...I've been thinking about it all day...I can't wait to try it! I haven't been baking all that much these days since we're in renovation mode again and I haven't had all that much time...I'll have a brand new kitchen soon so I'm super excited!!! This weekend is kind of ruined though since my hubby found out he has to work double shift saturday and sunday...bummer! On the bright side I have time to pack in peace...we're leaving to the caribbean in 2 weeks!!!!

Good luck with the boy, Robyn!

I am sitting here crying, worrying myself silly because DH is having some healthh problems, and I'm afraid...

Sorry to be a downer, but that's on my mind. He's very private, so I can't talk to anyone until he says ok, and I am afraid.

Oh, Kay, honey, I'm so sorry. You have every right to be scared and there's nothing I can say to change that but try to remember that I'm sure the doctors are going to do anything and everything they can to help him. Hugs to you and your hubby.

Linsley, have fun at the part and happy 30th to your DH! So far, 30 has been a good year for me!

Erin, I'm jealous of your vacation, I want a week off just to relax!

(((Kay and DH))); you and your DH will be in my prayers.

Robyn, what great weekend to be in the mountains; enjoy the new boy (wow -- that sounds weird, but you know what i mean).

Linsley Have fun at your DH's party. These days 30 seems so far away to me.

Erin, wow, a new kitchen in the future and the Caribbean? That is a lot to look forward to!

I am working from home today and helping DD get packed. We just sealed three bags of clothes and still have her bedding to go. I think everything will fit in her car but it will be tight. We are getting the brakes fixed on her car today as well as she is taking it to school. I can't believe we leave Tuesday!!!

(((Kay & DH))) We're all here hoping he'll be ok. I know what it's like to deal with a spouse's health problems. It's not fun.

Robyn, have a fun weekend with your new guy!

Linsley, we've had the same weather up here... it's headed for 90 today & 96 tomorrow. Hope the party goes well!

Erin, a new kitchen? And a trip to the Caribbean? I'm envious!!!

Not much going on here today. TV repairman just left, good thing we bought the extended warranty on that beast!! The neighbors are having a party tonight, weather permitting (rain date tomorrow). My neighbor is a fabulous cook so I can hardly wait to see what she's made for us tonight!

Otherwise, just trying to stay cool!! I hate the heat & humidity!!!

no need to be envious...lol...I will post a picture of what my kitchen looks like now and you will see why we need a new kitchen! ...we bought my hubby's gramma's house and we've been renovating in stages for the past 3 years...the first year we weren't living in it but once it was gutted and the plumbing, electrical, all walls, insulation were replaced and the extension was built (our bathroom), house was raised to make a basement, and it was liveable we moved in...you will see from the pic of the kitchen that we have NO counter space and we recycled the old cabinets...for the past 2 years I've had to live with THIS! We're in phase 3 of the renovations...basically the finishing! New hardwood floors, new tiles for the kitchen, new kitchen, new staircase, mouldings, we're putting in french doors throughout the house, a new shower for the bathroom...by December it'll all be done..right now they are working on re-insulating the house by the outside and then the vinyl is going up and then I'm getting my new front door and windows and then we will start the other renovations on the inside!

Erin -- you are a saint for dealing with that kitchen! Where in the Caribbean are you going?

Just heard from DH -- nothing life-threatening today. Lots of conditions to be aware of, and to watch. Yesterday's problem with require some kind of scope surgery. I'm relieved somewhat, but still worried about him. 40 years isn't long enough! He's always been so tough, and these health worries are frustrating to him -- hard for men to realize they're not immortal.

We're going to Atlanta tomorrow -- DH and friend to tour the Braves locker room to get ideas for their sports/home theatre decor. I am gladly going to miss that, and will head up to their house to meet with his wife to shop!

We're going to Cuba! My first pick was Costa Rica but Cuba was cheaper for a 5 star all-inclusive resort so perhaps we'll go next year To CR....

Have fun shopping...it will do you some good to get your mind off things, even if it's only for a few minutes!

Well, that's why he's got you to remind him. I hope every thing works out okay healthwise. He's a lucky guy to have you there to worry about him.

Robyn - good luck! sounds like a fun date, and it's always good to show off your cooking/baking skills to a guy!

Linsley - have an awesome time! and make sure to tease him at least a little about turning 30

Erin - can't wait to hear how the cake is! and have an awesome trip!

(((((((Kay)))))))) you and DH will be in my thoughts. it's tough comforting someone when you aren't exactly sure what's going on, but i'm sure he's glad that you're there for him!

Laura - good thing you caught the brakes now! good luck

    Sue - enjoy the party!

tonight i'm taking DH out to dinner for his birthday. there are going to be 2 other couples there and he has no clue, so i'm excited. it's a french-asian place and it's really yummy.

tomorrow we're going to (another) wedding. it's for a REALLY close friend though, so we're excited. and my MIL got me a dress when we went clothes shopping for my b-day present and we got a KILLER dress to wear tomorrow. i love it! she said that she got a hot flash when i tried it on, so DH better like it! hahahah!!!

so sunday, i suppose we'll be recovering from all the eating we'll be doing in the next 2 days

Hi LittleBrownCat, SheRa, DmOrtega and Sue!

This weekend is about me! Last week I worked all week, had the dinner group here on Friday and worked at Le Creuset on Saturday. Needless to say I was dragging this week.

I'm taking my usual 8:00 am Saturday step class and then going for a mani/pedi late morning. DH and I are going to a 40th b'day party for one of the owners of his company tomorrow night. Hanging out and cooking on Sunday. I need a weekend bad!!!!
