The days are getting shorter so my options are limited where I can take pictures. This is a Loblolly pine, which probably stands over 100' tall, in my back yard. There is nothing special about the tree or picture, I was just playing around with my camera trying out new settings and perspectives. The picture was taken about 30 minutes ago. (6:00 pm CST)

I have to admit this one was actually from earlier in the week..... not today.

These guys have flown into our local airport as well. I've taken the kids to see them a couple of times... always a fun day!

Finally getting around to posting something here! I've got three pics to share. The first was taken Sunday morning in front of my hotel, looking across the Hudson River towards midtown Manhattan. I think it looks like a postcard pic!

This one was taken at sunset during one of our last weekends at the lake.

This is my goofy Rob and his summer friend - they had the summer of a lifetime! Outdoors skiing, fishing, camping in the yard, just generally doing boy stuff all summer. This young man lives in Houston, but is our neighbor at the cottage during the summer. This pic was taken on the evening before he and his family left to go back to Texas to start school.

    Enjoy!

Alethea, that's gorgeous, and worthy of a cat calendar.

Here's one of one of my last roses of the season. The other ones are mostly small and have dark edges (I cut off a bad edge with the closeness of this shot) this was this morning with the dew drops. My son thought I was nuts out there shooting my rose bud before we headed off to school!

    Gosh, thank you Bob.

KimKelly, that shot is cool. I would never have known it was a rose.

Slightly OT, but just wondering if anyone else was having trouble seeing Kim's pix in the thread? I think it has to do with the [IMG] being located inside a [URL], because if I copy just the [img] address and paste it into the browser I can see it fine.

Any of our resident computer gurus know why this happens and if there is anything I can do to fix it so I don't have to go through the whole process of hitting the quote button and finding the img addy etc etc?

The first 2 pictures are from the pumpkin patch we visited this morning. The last photo is of the multi colored carrots we bought at the pumpkin patch!

A few minutes ago I went to a department store that was having a "soft" opening. I went to the fitting room to try on something and when I opened the door I found a bunch of "dummies" in there having an orgy.

Sheesh Gumbeaux - just when we thought it was safe to come back to the boards, and we're greeted with naked orgies!

Tried to post this last night when the boards were down - yesterday's sunset...

    Gumbeaux,

Do you bring your camera everywhere with you? Or do you use a camera phone a lot. You seem to never miss a photo-op! And I mean that in a good way!!! I need to throw a camera

I've enjoyed photography as a hobby since about the third grade. I remember reading as a teenager that the best camera you can have is "the one that's in your hand when the picture you want to take presents itself" In other words, it's better to have an inexpensive camera in your hands than an expensive one left at home. A camera phone makes accomplishing this easy. I have a 2-megapixel Sony Ericsson w810i which was a "free" phone offered by Cingular. I added a larger memory card and purchased a USB cable to make it easy getting the pictures out of the phone and into the computer.

What a great picture! Is that a water tower?

Yep - that's our town's first water tower! The picture was taken in the back of a car wash parking lot, about 4 blocks from my house.

I took this picture last night. I don't know how well you can see the door, but we were eating at Popeye's.

The chicken outside was making me a tad guilty.
