    Happy early Christmas to me!

My step-mother has been trying to convince my father to let go some heirlooms that they don't use and finally was successful with some silver pieces (although he still won't give up the quilts). I knew they were coming but had kind of forgotten and they arrived today. I got around 10 smaller serving pieces including a full gravy set, small platters, a bowl, salt and pepper shakers, cream and sugar set and quite a bit of mixed flatware. I am so excited to be able to use these things, they are just gorgeous and I love that they are a mixed bag of patterns and will mix them with my more contemporary piece of serveware as well. First use, next week for chipotle mashed potatoes in the bowl!

What a nice "surprise" Its refreshing to hear that a young person enjoys silver. Most of the younger people I know think its too much trouble. Hmmmn....most of mine is wrapped up for safe keeping. Time to get it out, polish it and use it

Robyn - Enjoy the new gifts! It's nice to have family pieces.

OK Robin...I think you need to set them all out, and take a picture, so we can all enjoy their beauty!

    Lucky you...enjoy!!!

I have felt the same way about using my grandmother's china, crystal, and even depression glass. There's just something about having the dishes I remember from my childhood! Silver would be even better!

Some of the pieces sorely need polishing (which I've done some searching on since I'm hoping not to have to scrub every piece ) but once I get to that I'll take a photo and post.

Thanks everyone for sharing in my excitement.
