A Special Brownie Thank You-this deserves its own thread

I came home today to see a package on my front porch. I was confused, as I wasn't expecting anything. Upon inspection, I see that it's from the Brownie Fairy. Wow--to be Fairied 2x!

I am just absolutely amazed. This was earlier today, and it took me sometime to process!

While I was opening the box and realizing what it was, I was on the phone with one of my best friends. I was bawling, she was freaking out thinking something was wrong, and I'm telling her, "No, no--it's a good thing--it's from the Brownie Fairy."

Anyhow, there was a card saying how the person is a lurker, but saw my post about a student stealing my camera. The Fairy recently lost a loved one who was an educator as well, and the camera belonged to him. The Fairy has no use for it, so sent it to me to replace my stolen one. Also included was a (very generous) gift card to go towards rechargeable batteries and then some extra just to help out (which will also help to fill the box that is going to a friend in Iraq).

I am truly touched, blessed, amazed at the kindness displayed by someone I've never met. I just sat down and cried. I've been really struggling internally with the class that the camera went missing in, and I plan to share with them this week about this random act.

Brownie Fairy, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous act of kindness. I'm truly sorry you have recently lost a loved one, but feel blessed that you chose me to share with after you loss.
    Jennifer

Amazing story. And what an amazing person to do this for you. I hope your story to your students will strike a chord.

I hope the lurker comes out of lurkdom to become a regular contributor to our boards. We can use more people like this person on our boards.

I am so touched. Thank you Brownie Fairy whoever you are. Bless you! Your generous gift to Jennifer was a gift to us all! I for one need occasional reminders that humans can be kind to others with no expectations of anything in return. In my line of work, this is so rare. Your gift has touched many and I thank you.

What an incredibly generous and thoughtful gift. Wow.

After you share this event with your class, please let us know if the little thief's conscience is touched, & if he/she makes it right with you as well.

    Jennifer-
I'm glad you will be able to get some good use out of the camera. My loved one who passed away was a very generous soul and often did special things for others, like giving $30 tips on $30 tabs at restaurants just because he thought the waiter could use the money or giving sports tickets to kids with disabilities who wouldn't have otherwise afforded to go. It just seemed like the right thing to do, to give you the camera, when I found it in a drawer on the same day you reminded us about the camera you had that was stolen. It takes a special kind of person to work with kids with so many challenges. I was happy to be able to help.

P.S. Your quote by Abraham Lincoln has been very important to me lately. I wish my loved one would have had the chance to see it. He really lived those words.

BrownieFairy, you just brought tears to my eyes. May your loved ones spirit live on in the lives of all who have been touched by his and your actions. Hugs to you in this difficult time.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
The Lincoln quote is a favorite; I came upon it after I lost a loved one myself. I used it at the end of a scrapbook I made in his memory--I can't see his pictures w/o thinking of that quote.

I did share the card that as enclosed with my gift today with my homeroom class. The ones that I already know are conscientious and caring were like "wow". The others didn't really comment one way or the other. In fact, some were raising their hands before I was done speaking to ask to go to their lockers or the library.

BF, that was a very kind and thoughtful gesture, and your loved one's spirit will live on through it.

Jennifer, maybe it's just hard for some of the kids to relate at this point in their lives -- either to think that someone you don't know would do something nice for you or perhaps gifts don't mean that much to them right now -- maybe they take them for granted. Eithe way, I hope all the kids will someday experience the beauty in unexpected giving and receiving.

It took me forever to get it mailed, but I finally did 2 weeks ago and my friend in Iraq received his packages--which the gift card included from my Brownie Fairy helped to fill.

Here is a thread on the board where I shared this and he posts on. He is Sarge, at the bottom of the post.
