    Wasps, Bees, etc....

We have had an influx of wasps, bees, yellow jackets, etc all around our porch furniture. It's a wood table and chairs and apparently they are eating the wood to make their homes. None of the homes are anywhere near us that we can see...

So my question is does anyone have any experience with this and how the heck do we get them to leave. They don't harm us but you can barely sit outside without them swooping down around us and also I would like my deck furniture to not be chewed!!

I wonder if you have Carpenter Bees.
Here's a link to a site with lots of good reading about the various insects you might have and ways to control them.

Some of them are carpenter bees. We pretty much have every kind of flying insect!

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out!

Funny you should ask this question. We just found out last night that a swarm of bees has taken up residence in our tree out front. There's a huge hanging hive in it. Some kids from the neighborhood just knocked into the tree's trunk and the swarm was a-buzzing.

Sorry about your problem. We have lots of wasps in our backyard and it makes it unpleasant to sit out there. I've tried sprays that are supposed to make our area unlikeable for them, but truthfully, I can't say they've done any good.

I wish I could help. Alas, all I can do is empathize.

I have seen regular wasps hang out near wood - they must use something in it to build their nests.

My theory is that since we had a relatively mild winter - we had almost no sub-zero weather if any at all - we are going to have a lot of bugs this summer.

    I hope I'm wrong.

We seem to have a lot of buzzy bees and such on our deck too. Last year it was so dry that we were very lucky and had very un-buggy summer.
