    frozen pieroges?sauce?

i bought some pieroges at Trader Joes but don't know what sauce to put on them. I wanted to just saute some vegies and put a simple sauce on all of it. Nothing fancy, thanks for any suggestions.

The only thing we ever did with pierogies when I was growing up (100% Polish heritage) was to brown some diced onion in butter then toss the boiled pierogies (boil them like ravioli) into the butter and serve.

My grandmother made 2 kinds of pierogies: potato with farmer cheese and kapusta/sauerkraut cooked in salt pork renderings.

I just brown them in butter, since I don't care for the onions that much.

I serve them with sour cream. My dad puts applesauce on them (the cheese/potato ones anyway, I don't like sauerkraut so I've never bought those).
For those in touch with it, Reality is the leading cause of stress.

I make them fresh every Christmas for our brunch, around here they are always served with sauteed onions, in butter. I boil them and then fry them up to crisp a bit in the onions and butter. We serve them with sour cream too.

ditto mkc- butter! tg for vegan butter!!

dh, who is not polish, tried spag sauce and salsa but even he admits that butter is best.

hey mkc- i still say kapusta not sauerkraut- do you know Dzisiaj w Betlejem?

I use TJ pierogies to make this recipe for pierogies with bacon onions and peas. It's delicious and really easy.
