I got a couple of SLT gift cards and was thinking of one of these too. I know Alton Brown loves his.

On his show he uses an electric kettle. I don't know if it's this model specifically. He also wrote about it in one of his books.

I understand why some might want to spend that much on this kettle, but as someone who is currently quite tea crazy, but wasn't willing to do so, I bought the $49 IngenuiTEA from Adagio tea. The difference is that it has just two settings, 180 and 212, which seems to work just fine for me, whether I do white, green, herbal, black tea or a tisane. I am totally enamored with it, can't imagine how I lived without it, and even gave one as a Christmas gift to a tea-drinking buddy who likes it as much as I do.

Throw in a small sample tea to pass the fifty bucks and you've got free shipping, too.

I'm looking for an electric kettle, and I had looked at the one from adagio, too. It's out of stock right now though.

Wallycat, what did you end up with?

I have a Braun I've had since November 2007 and has been in use daily since then that I love. It's stainless steel and was, I think, about $65.00. I've worn out a few over the years and this one just keeps perkin' along...

I have a white plastic one from Target that I bought 8 years ago for around $20, and it's still doing great! But that IngenuiTEA is sure tempting!

Interestingly enough, MIL had the stainless steel Braun, and it only lasted about 2 years. She drinks probably 3 cups of tea a day, so it did get heavy use, but still...
