PLs help with dried lentil and bean soup mixes

I was given these as gifts and never used them before. So first I cooked the dried lentil, veggie soup yesterday, added some sausage and diced tomatoes, but its lacking in flavor, how do I spice it up.

next, I have a 5 bean soup mix, How do I make this taste good?

I too received bean soup mixes for Christmas. Just made the 1st one yesterday. I added smoked turkey sausage, onions, garlic & carrots. It still needed something else so I added a splash of Worstishire (sp?) & a splash of balsamic. The sweet salty combo helped out a lot! It kind of added some depth to it.
