    Seasoning Storage...I need help.

I have a small cottage kitchen - hardly any cabinet space and literally only 1 usable drawer.

Right now my spices are on a 2 tier lazy susan, but it's overflowing. I'm looking for new storage ideas. Anything that hangs on a pantry door won't work as I have no pantry and anything that goes on a wall won't work because there's only 1 small wall and I'm not willing to give it to spices.

Is there anything else out that that's an option????

First and foremost, that is a Party Susan!

Is there not a cabinet you could use? I mean it does sound pretty tight in your kitchen so you may have to rethink the small wall...why aren't you willing to give it up for spices?

I outgrew my spice cabinet a few months ago (too many Penzey's orders), so I went to Bed Bath & Beyond and bought a bunch of small metal spice tins with magnetic pads on the bottom. I loaded my 12-14 most used seasonings into those and stuck them on the side of the fridge facing the stove. Works great! They run under $2 each, and I believe there are also magnetic strips you can mount on the wall to hold the containers as well.

The current spice cabinet is the cabinet on the upper left.

I'll have to look into this - it's a possibility.

Terri, when we moved into this house, DH built a spice rack for me - the full length of my pantry door. I filled it, and figuring out what to do with all my spices was one of my challenges when we redid the kitchen. What I wound up with was using one of my top drawers to have spice jars standing upright with labels on the top. I have a 24 inch wide drawer that has over 100 jars. I had to buy shorter jars from specialty bottle, but it has really worked out well. I know you don't have many drawers, so it might not work for you unless you can move things around.

The only other thing I can think of is to adjust one of your cabinets to accommodate an over-the-door rack. Like maybe the shelves could be shortened slightly so the door would still close?

I have a similiar issue in my kitchen. I use the tiered shelving (like these) http://www.containerstore.com/browse...RODID=10018251 both in my cabinet and on the counter.

Having a small kitchen with limited storage sucks

I don't know if something like this would work for you or not, but this is my cabinet. We took the shelves out, and DH made some smaller shelves that are only as deep as 1 bottle. I have a few places where I have the small containers that you have, stacked on each other.

You may have too many bottles for this:

https://spicestack.com/index.php but it makes very good use of space.

I first read about this on this board, so I'm pretty sure some members here have one.

I'm also curious why you don't want to give up the wall to spices. I think a built-in spice cabinet would not only be very functional but look beautiful.

I'm not opposed to a cabinet built into that wall, but I"m not sure how those work and just behind that wall is my dryer.

G - Do you know where I would find that to look into it further?

tbb- I'll have to look into the tiered shelving - I think it might work without me having to destroy and walls or cabinets!

Donna and 1by1girl - Are you both talking about the same thing? Unfortunately, the Spice Stack is too wide for my cabinet!!!

I have a 2 tier lazy susan, wall spice rack and a big fan of those metal tins with the clear lid top and magnet on bottom which I put on the side of my fridge.

    Terri,

You could have the spice rack built into the space between the studs of the wall. It would be very shallow and as long as you keep it the width of the distance between the studs it would be very simple for someone to do.

    Here is the link.

A lot of builders in my area are building cabinets into the previous unused space between the studs. I've seen this utilized for spice racks, message centers, cell phone charging stations, key racks, purse storage, and even wine racks similar to the one shown below.
