I have always frozen berries unwashed -- then I rinse them well before using. Is this how you do it? Or do you wash/rinse them first and then freeze? Doesn't that cause the berries to become too soft and/or "mushy"?
Opinions, please! Thanks!

I have frozen unwashed and read several places that it is best to do it that way.
I'd done the unwashed bit with no problem, then I read that it was OK to wash. I tried washing the berries this summer, and they are freezing just fine.
Note: these are blueberries. I haven't tried it with raspberries or strawberries, but would let them dry thoroughly before I did so.

I never wash any type of berries that I freeze. Somehow I vision soggy berries and I haven't suffered from not washing.![]()

I rinse berries before I use them, after I thaw them, whether or not they were rinsed before freezing.
