    Happy thread!

OK peeps. So much sadness & frustration going on lately, including yours truly. BUT.... let's talk about something happy! Favorite childhood memories? Favorite ice cream flavor? A certain scent that makes you tingle?! Anything?!

Obession for Men has always been my favorite scent on a guy. My junior high history teacher, Mr. Cantwell - hugest (I know that's not a word) crush on him. HUGE! He wore Obsession for Men & I guess I never quite got over it. I remember going to May Co. which turned into Robinson's (I think), then into Robinsons-May & now after all that, I think it's Macy's? Anyhoo, my BFF & I walked up & down the men's colognes searching for this scent. When I found it, I sprayed it on those little tester papers & tucked it in my purse, so I can compare it to him the next week. I was right!!
God, I was such a dork!

Howard Johnson's Butter Pecan Ice Cream. I soooo loved this ice cream. Does anyone know if they still make it anywhere?

One of my favorite childhood memories. When we lived in Pa. we used to go every summer to Wildwood N.J. Being a little child, it seemed that it took forever to get to the water. The beach seemed a mile wide. I remember wearing my little rubber sandles and walking that long walk by my fathers side with him holding my hand. A memory I will always treasure.

My sister, dad and I were all partial to HoJo's Peppermint Stick ice cream. A distant second was Buttercrunch. We loved how they'd serve ice cream with a Social Tea cookie sticking out of one scoop. Our family made many dessert runs there and it always seemed like a fun little road trip even though it was only about 7 miles away

My sister and I also loved the blue and orange decor

In general, going for dessert was a family tradition I remember fondly.

Thanks kaygee for starting this thread. This has been a weekend from he!! but you have given me the opportunity to think of a positive. When my Mom died in May one of then things I took from her apartment was her perfum. She didn't wear it often and I don't wear perfume often either. Every once in while I spray it on my body and it smells heavingly and I feel like she is hugging me

Right now, I have so many things to be thankful for. house is going well. I have a new supervisor who I really like. My route has gone extremely well....

My most favorite childhood memory was going to my grandmother's house to help her clean out her cabinets when I was a teenager. She was very petite and I was tall.

There was a tea set on the top shelf that my grandpa's employees gave him for Christmas, when I was younger. Since it was up there, untouched for several years, I asked her for it. She told me that both daughters wanted it and she couldn't give it to me as much as she would like to.

When I was a senior in high school, I went over to help her and it was gone. SURPRISE! She had taken it down and gift wrapped it and made me promise not to ever tell! I still have it displayed. It has been with me anywhere I have ever lived.

I have a few fond memories of our vacations to Disney World. I am so glad and feel so fortunate that my parents took video of my sister and I when we were down there. (They rented a big ole' video camera during our first trip there, I believe it was in '88. Boy, have times changed!). The video is really cute and always brings lots of laughs when we watch it.

I also have wonderful memories of all the camping trips and other vacations my parents were able to take us on during our childhood and into our teen years. I feel very fortunate that our parents were able to have these vacations with us.

Beautiful new house, beautiful property, beautiful kids (well not in that order, but the house is new ), blog is doing well enough to (slowly mind you) pay for me to go to see U2 in Chicago twice, husband may have pay cut but job is pretty secure.... really I have no reason to complain as long as no sickly sweet women tick me off.

One thing that makes me happy is the sound of bugs at night with the windows open. It reminds me of when I would stay at my grandparents house - they didn't have air conditioning and so I associate bug noises from the open windows with them.

A new job that I love (even though sometimes it breaks my heart).

A new puppy that I am picking up tomorrow.

Lots and lots of cherry tomatoes growing right outside my back door. I got a bumper crop this year!

University classes started today. Even though I don't love the new traffic I always feel the excitement in the air when the students return and I love it.

Had to work convocation yesterday. I got a free sno-cone! Then when DH picked me up he surprised me by having a picnic packed up for dinner and had several meals planned/prepped for this week
