Non-food ideas for college final exam week care package?

I want to send DD a care package for finals. She loves getting packages like every college student but packages from me are especially a surprise because her dorm is a 10-minute walk from my office and we see each other at least once a week.

I really don't want it to be all food and Starbucks cards. But I can't think of any equivalents to comfort food that's not food!

Ideas please? It's only 3 more weeks until the start of finals week!

Maybe a gift card to a spa or nail salon?

My mom sent me an extra brain during finals once. It was a plastic container shaped like a brain with bad gum and trivia cards in it. A kid's toy, but it worked great and I still have it

I did this lots of times for my sisters.

Think kid toys: play doh, silly putty, bubble solution. I sent this kit to my sister once that was a water gun wiht a bottle of bubble solution the idea was that you blew bubbles and shot them with water to pop them. That was a hit.

I mainly thought of things to do to take a break from studying. Some treats are good, trail mix or some kind of cookie she likes.

How about a pair of earrings, or a bracelet? A new lipgloss or nail polish? Is she the type that would appreciate a nice supply of new pencils, post-its, pens, etc? (My DD would love that). Or a scarf (I see them everywhere for spring, light cotton scarves to wear with T shirts), or even a little wristlet or something for spring?

Funny! I'm building my nephew a finals care package (his is mostly food); the mini-slinky from Target is in the box, too!

I like the idea of earrings - something she can wear during finals and know you are thinking of her and sending good thoughts.

Or maybe some bath gel in her favorite scent? Or some beauty/bath supply that's an expensive treat?

Perhaps bottles of aromatherapy body wash and/or shampoo; one "energizing" for before and during exams, and a reward bottle of "relaxing" for after exams?

Car coasters are really cute these days. I just bought a bunch with animal print (we are the Jaguars) and fleur de lis (we are all Saints fans) for the teachers' goodie bags I'm making for our state testing week next week.

How about a MindWare coloring book and a nice set of pens (I love Pentels for stuff like this) or colored pencils? My son has the EnviroScapes book and I'll occasionally steal a page for some mindless stress relief.

If you can deliver it yourself...how about a hula hoop?

My college DD and her friends Hula hoop outside the dorms all the time.

I bought her a light up hoop at Target, she was happy.

Good exercise and fun to relax the mind.

No specific items in mind, but you might find this site very inspirational for ideas.

Some of those things were hysterical. Thanks for the link. I may get something for this package but I also saw things for future presents.

Ohhh, got one! When my parents moved me into the dorm when I was a freshmen, my mom and dad hid The Little Engine That Could under my pillow. She wrote me a super sweet message. Loved it, and I still have the book and read it when I need a little push!

I think it would be equally appropriate during finals time!

when i was doing finals every year for ten years, aside from a neck massage, i would have loved:
a pair of new, soft satiny slippers or new socks and a refreshing foot spray (no time to rub lotion in)

a new shower gel with a refreshing scent, preferably one that hangs or has a pump

a thriving rosemary plant (helps memory!)

a nice new black ink pen that can't leak

an extra couple pairs of undies and maybe a clean white tank top

    a new pillow

Someone once sent me a box of 64 crayola crayons (with the crayon sharpener) and 5 or 6 coloring books. I remember laying in the hall with a bunch of my friends coloring as a study break. It took us back to simpler times!

Thanks for all the great ideas!

I'm making a package for DD and her roommates, not just for her.

So far I bought little bottles of bubble solution, water guns, silly string, cool Crayola markers especially for windows (they have a huge window since they're in a high rise) and a box of 96 crayola crayons and a Disney movie coloring book. The coloring book themes were pretty slim pickings. it was the first time I've been in Toys R Us for ages!

If anyone else has some great ideas, please send them along. I'll be completing the box with food and Starbucks cards.

    What a cute idea!

We did a similar kit for my sister when she was getting married. We added lotions, hand-held massagers, scrubs, etc. also some of her favorite snacks.

How about a couple bottles of nail polish, clippers, a file, etc? They make cute "sticker" type of things you can put on your nails and clear coat over them so they stick.
