    Bread Machine recommendations?

We currently have a Breadman Ultimate bread maker that we have had for 10+ years. The seal just broke on the bucket and this is the 3rd time it has happened. I can just buy another bucket for 30(ish) bucks, but I'm also wondering what else is out there for bread machines.

Do you have a favorite? Does anyone has a Zojirushi? They are super expensive but seem to have the best reviews? Is it over kill? I do want one with different functions such as making dough, bread and jam. We use it a lot.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

    Thanks,
    Renee

Do you know which model you have? I am finding two of them the Zojirushi BB-CEC20WB and the ZOJIRUSHI BBCC-X20WB. The cost difference is over (or about) $100.

The X20 is the more expensive one and is the one rated by consumer reports. Though, I really can't tell a difference in the descriptions between the two.

Which one do you have? Do you know if the models have a big difference?

Again, I really appreciate any information you are willing to provide.

If others have a brand you like, please mention it!

    Thanks.

I have the Zojirushi BB-CEC20 that I bought at Amazon for $209 though it's now listed at $239. I'm on the road at the moment so I don't know which, if any, of the other letters are on the model I have.

I have made dough, bread, and cake in it though not jam. It does a great job with those and I like the fact the bread pan is shaped more like a normal pan rather than the tall pan in my old breadmaker. It is also much quieter!

What perfect timing! I have been eying this very bread maker for a couple of weeks and think I am about to bite the bullet and buy it. Is there anything you don't like about it? Have you made any sourdough starter with it?

No, I haven't just the dough, bread, and cake. DH doesn't really care for sourdough...

I got a zoji this summer and I LOVE it. I really like the loaf shape.

I have made just the quick sourdough version. It was good but I would like to try the real version w starter sometime. I use the machine for pizza dough a lot too.

You people have me all excited and ready to go pull my Zo (I found it at a Goodwill and have never had the nerve to try it) out of the garage and give it a go. (I have a ToastMaster (?) that works, never gets used anymore..it's also in the garage.) Wonder why this Zo ended up at Goodwill? Hope it works. I did test it to see if paddles rotate when on...and yes, they do. (It's got the dual ones..oblong loaf.)

How's 'bout sharing some of these recipes you all have had success with. (I do have lots of bread machine cookbooks...but would love to see your favs.) Thanks...or if just pointing, or maybe starting a new thread for recipes...that would be heavenly, too. FUN FUN FUN!!! I love you people!!!! Life is much more exciting with you CLBB people in it!!! xxxooo
PS: I'd be glad to scan or type any recipes from books I have and share them here...just tell me what books and which recipes. I have most of the books...since I tend to hoard baking cookbooks.

Oh no...it isn't a Zo. It's not even close. I musta been dreaming. Sheesh. BUT, I am on a mission now to buy one and have a lead on one for $221 at Kitchen Kaboodle near us!!
(There are other stores around with the 1 lb machine.) I dunno... 2 lbs is a lot for just the two of us. Hmmm... which one to get? We will barely be able to consume all of the bread that this big machine looks to make. Oh boy.

Renee! The good news is that Kitchen Kaboodle has it [in store] in both white and in black for $221.99.

I checked all over: called Macy's, BB&Y, Crate and B, Best Buy, Kohl's, Iwajasaki (or whatever that place is called), Sur La Tab...and others. Only online they all said...except: Sur La Tab Bridgeport has in black, Crate and B has only 1 lb machine, but Kitchen Kaboodle ONLY carries Zo's (no others) and the one over by Wash. Square has both colors.

I got the white one for several reasons: harder to see scratches and stuff (the demo showed every scratch and flaw in the obvious plastic top while the white showed none at all) plus I figure this machine will have sugar and flour all around and in it...and white will be easier to keep clean looking.

    Model is BB-CEC-20.

It's here at mfg site: http://www.zojirushi.com/whats_new/b...010/index.html (and if u go to the tab Find Store and enter your zip, it will tell u the stores nearby that might have it. Kaboodle should as they had plenty over here by me.

Susan: Thanks for the point to the meg-thread.

Thanks in part to this thread and all the great reviews, yesterday I purchased the Zojirushi BB-CEC20. I am thrilled and cannot wait to make the first loaf today!

Hi, what fun we will have! Here's the first bread I know I am going to make: the variation Basic called Cheese & Onion Bread.
Why that one? Because the sales gal at Kaboodle said that they put on demonstrations of the machine and make jam or bread...and that they recently demo'd the Ch & Onion and it smelled amazing of melty cheese and onions. (Not sure if she said she tasted, but from her swoons I think she might have had some.)

The DVD makes it appear that the machine only does cake mixes, but NOT SO according to the manual. Looks to me like you can make some kinds of cakes from scratch. ANYBODY TRY THAT YET???

Oh boy. Please let us know your results, Curiosity.
Re: sour dough ----- the DVD makes it look like the Starter is just for (and before) making that one s.d. bread. I wonder if it can be made in machine and kept for other things like pancakes, etc.

    Catbat,

I did find it on amazon.com as well with free shipping. Okay, this is so exciting!

The cheese and onion bread sounds amazing. I just realized you are in Portland, OR as well. We might have seen each other gazing closely at this machine in various stores!

Someone mentioned the 1lb vs 2 lb machine - I typically don't have a 'buy bigger' moto... but you can always make 1 lb loafs in the 2 lb machine (we did it in our currently broken one) and it works great.

I let you know which one I decide to get. So fun! I need to check out the link to the bread thread.

Renee! I didn't make myself clear... I am excited to tell u better here and now ------ RUN to Kaboodle if u decide on the 2 lb!!!! Reason: you will likely look all over like I did and run into one thing: ALL sources charge the same price for the 2 lb $239.99 and some have shipping/some don't. BUT BUT BUT..... Kaboodle...this is freaky...because I remember Kaboodle as always being HIGHER priced than anybody....but they are the ONLY one LOWER on this breadmaker!!! $221.99 ! AND u can go grab right now. Don't have to wait for shipping. I went everywhere and priced and etc...determined to find one a) local so I could grab right away...and Kaboodle was the ONLY place lower priced and all but one didn't even stock em. Kaboodle cheaper/on hand in BOTH colors. (The one other place had only black and at $240.) Here, yes...west side is where I am. hehehe (Excuse my excitement please.) Oh,,,,one negative: not made in USA. Another China import. OH and PS: comes with DVD but when u see if, don't be alarmed a bit, like I was, that they show cake make with a mix. The manual has a coupla cake recipes from scratch.

PPS: Only one place had the 1 lb...over here on west side...and it was $189.99...available at Crate & Barrel down at Bridgeport on I-5 near 217. I didn't call downtown or east.

    Look what you started!!! <giggles>
