    Christmas Shopping 2010

Have you started Christmas shopping yet? I have purchased a few things for teachers, employees and church staff, but nothing for family and friends. I find that if I shop early, I can usually find the right thing without over spending and panic shopping at the last minute.

I don't purposely go out Christmas shopping before November, but if I see something that has just the right fit for someone, at the right price, I have been known to get gifts as early as July.

Shoot, no! My list is VERY short due to a combination of previous agreements to just not "buy each other anything" and one side of the family utilizing the name drawing system where you only buy for one person and spend no more than $50. I know who my husband and I are supposed to buy for, but haven't seen a wish list from those people yet and haven't thought of anything on our own. But I'm hoping whatever it is I can do online.

I have done some shopping for my nieces and nephews. Nothing too much, but "technically" I have started.

I need to get going. Chanukah starts December 1 and I don't even have presents for my boys!

I have. I used to start putting things away earlier, but with late summer birthdays in the family, it's not as early any more. I am putting together gifts for my sister and her two kids that all go together and I have the major parts of those because I stumbled across something that inspired the whole idea. Have part of my SIL's gift and have my brother's tentatively decided. I have something for my mom, but that will probably be her birthday on the 13th. The boys don't need much this year, so they may be a bit challenging and my dad and BIL will be tough. Always are.

We will have a lot of teacher gifts this year with school plus private lesson teachers -- and the boys have the same band and choir directors this year so I need to some up with an idea for them rather than giving them each 2 wassail kits. Have ideas -- need to decide on one.

And I delivered a bag of toy to Toys for Tots Friday. That was a blast.

We're only buying for the DDs this year. All other gifts are "in a jar" recipes and a cookbook from my church, which has a lot of my (our) recipes in it. I have some gift cards which I purchased with airline miles that were going to expire, but I have to brainstorm the rest. I have no good ideas, yet.

I bought $5 scarves and $3 fuzzy socks from Old Navy for teachers and lessons. Those are always appreciated. Last year I had the scarves monogrammed for the main teacher and Sunday School teachers.

I always start early because we don't travel to my side of the family for Xmas. My mom, unknowingly, gave me a lot of great ideas during her last visit so it has been so much easier. She just visited my sister and I got some great ideas from that trip. This year may be the easiest one I've had since we went to Hawaii and they all got shirts

I actually have started. Got my parents gifts in October (same time I got my Dad's birthday gift), some things for my son's birthday (later this month) and for Christmas, and my Mom's birthday (in January). How's that for getting a jump on things?
