    VRB w/o 11/25 post-turkey fun

Happy weekend after Thanksgiving all. Cheryl commented yesterday that she was sick now. But for the most part we're getting healthier - Vicci is bouncing back a little after her tumble and Heather is doing well - even headed west for Thanksgiving. I'm kind of on the mend but not still fully in battery. Maybe soon. Rested on Friday after a 90 minute run on Thursday.

It was nice this morning although a little windy. Did 10.5+ miles and for the most part feel good. I know a few of the BB folks are running in the Seattle marathon/half-marathon and I hope it's not as rainy as they think it might be.

Anyone else out and about this weekend?

    Happy trails,
    Les

Thanks for starting us out this week, Les. Is the hip feeling better yet? It must be feeling okay since you don't seem to have curtailed your runs.

How are you feeling now Cheryl? Too bad that you had to skip the run on Saturday, but it's best just to recover now and get out for a run later.

I got caught up in yardwork yesterday (oh, surprise) and missed the run I planned.

Today was "our Thanksgiving" and I had mostly kitchen duty but Spooky and I went out for a walk for a bit. He did the 1/4 mile loop for the first time since last spring. I went a *little* further. And that was it for today. I really need to get the EB back up from the basement so I remember to use it on the cold/ rainy/ snowy days.

A long weekend winding down here in the US, I hope that everybody had a great one!

My hip is hit and miss. Sometimes it's not too bad and others it's nagging. I'm heading to the massage therapist tomorrow afternoon and I hope that is the start of my recovery but I know it will be a while.

It sounds like you're doing well and the weather is behaving up there. We had a great weekend down here - a little breezy but nothing to gripe about. I hope you can haul your bike up from the basement so you can beat the winter.

Happy trails and a shout out to the rest - Cheryl, Robyn, Kathy, Nat, Heather, and Susan.

re-emerging from my over-scheduled and head cold daze...although I have been doing a lot of walking and chasing after kids lately. And raking leaves.

I went out this morning (who could resist 60+ temps?!) for about 30 minutes. Ran/walked, but felt good after.

Sacro-iliac stuff is bothering me again but not the pain I had before, and due entirely to lots of bending/lifting as I moved stuff back into the attic, which we can now use again because the roof is done! This should be the public link to my FB page where there are before, during, and after pictures.

Les - hope the massage therapy helps.

Vicci - hopefully the weather will hold for a little longer, like it's predicted to do here for this week.

Cheryl - hope you feel better today. DS and I have been trading a cold back & forth for weeks, I think.

    Hello to everyone else!
There cannot be a crisis today. My schedule is already full.

    Happy post Thanksgiving week

Les- I hope the massage works. How was the Thanksgiving service? I hope it went well and you had many people in attendance. My parents live just north of the LA area inland from the Malibu area. It really is lovely where they live.

Cheryl- I hope you are on the mend, to bad you had to miss your race. I noticed you are in Maryland, so am I. Do you run with Fleet Feet? DH and I love their store and get all our running stuff from them. So when is the Outer Banks half in the spring?

Vicci- Glad to hear you had a nice thanksgiving and got a chance to get out for a walk with Spooky. How are you recovering from your fall?

MinEaston- I hear you on the leaves, that has occupied DH for the past few weekends. The kids have made some great leaf forts. The roof looks great, congrats on it being finished. Great job on the run- the temps sure have been nice

Well I don't know what forecast my mom saw but it couldn't have been more wrong. It was gorgeous all weekend with temps so warm during the day that my boys went swimming in my parents pool. Travel was a breeze with no hang ups in either direction and we even arrived home early yesterday.
So DH and I decided to do the Turkey Day Dash on Thanksgiving Day. My boys wanted to stay home with the family so we were able to run at full speed. It was a very nice 5K around a local mall area. It was a brisk morning, perfect for running. DH and I finished in 30:10, which was good for an 18/69 finish for me in my age group. I also had absolutely no issues with my leg or ankle, so that was great. Friday we were also able to sneak out early and do a quick 4 miles so we got two good runs in.

The next three and a half weeks will be nuts til we head back to Cali for some holiday skiing, but I need to make sure I keep up with running since it is feeling good and I am doing well at the uped pace.

Hey there all - it's good to see some movement on the thread. Glad you're back from the west Heather. Near Malibu is a beautiful place even though I've only just been through the area. I'm glad your run went well with DH and it sounds like you did really well. I've lived down south in San Diego and up north in Monterey. I hope you can hang on until the next holiday time - where do you all ski when you're out there?
MinEaston - It's nice to confirm what I thought about your handle "M" in Easton. I love the pictures of your house and I'm glad your roof isn't leaking any more. I'm glad you're over your head cold.

I'm nearly in love with my massage. Not really as much pushing as I thought there would be but I'm feeling nearly 100% better. I'll be pushing water to make sure I don't get that "hit by a bus feeling."

    Happy trails,
    Les

Les- Glad you had a nice massage and it seems to have helped with the hip. I was born and raised in LA so it is home to me, but I also lived in Davis, CA for five years while I got my doctorate degree so northern CA is very familiar as well. We are skiing this time at Mammoth. I have not skied there in many years, did lots of skiing in Tahoe. But it is closed to LA and we will only be there for 5 days so it is an easier trip.

Cheryl- Love the Fleet Feet in Kentlands, that is where we go all the time for our running stuff. I did not know they had a Saturday morning run group. When do they meet and how far do they run?

So did intervals on the TM last night. Did just over 3 miles at 1 minute run at 6.5 mph/ 2 minute run at 5.2 mph. DH was saying he thought the rest should be slower, a pace where I could walk to recover. Any thoughts?
Hope to get in run this afternoon as both boys are occupied after school for a while.

Cheryl- I am just down the road from you in Bethesda. I hope I get a chance to join one of fleet feet's runs and introduce myself, but with my schedule I know it won't be until after the holidays.
Have a great run and bundle up it is supposed to be cold.

Shout out to everyone else, hope everyone is well.

So I was able to get my run in as hoped. I did 5 miles and it felt great. I was even able to maintain a faster pace, which might have has something to do with the fact that my legs were numb--it was cold and windy yesterday. But I did it.
    On to today.
