    Halloween Ideas anyone?

Since my daughter didn't have a b-day party this year (opted for a trip to Cedar Point Amusement
park with her best friend instead) she wants to have a halloween party. Any Ideas for me for
un-usually creepy food items...scary decorations, or party games? This will be for 6th grade
boys and girls, with some younger kids too. Waiting patiently for your ideas!~

    Lightbulb Halloween stuff

Try having lots of gross out candies around , the gumball eyeballs, worms in pudding, etc
Also check out Oriental gifts for lots of little trinkets.
And dry ice inside of big jack o laterens is always fun, just do smaller amounts of the ice in the bottom of the pumkin and use a flashlight/electric light for illumination..
I can't wait to read the replies on this, I love Halloween parties.

    oh, fun!

familyfun.com may have some good ideas for you. I get the magazine and the latest one has lots of cool Halloween ideas. There is also a Better Homes and Gardens special Halloween publication on the newsstands right now that I picked up...lots of cute ideas! I was thinking of maybe starting to have a yearly Halloween party for my kids...kind of take the emphasis off the candy!

    Wink Halloween Party ideas

    Always loved Halloween.
When I was GS leader, made ghost cake from Betty Crocker book-cut in shape of ghost, frosted with fluffy frosting-but for eyes, used two clean eggshell halves, put a sugar cube in each, added tsp. of orange extract and lit the eyes for flaming glow-spooky when lights are dim.

Also had usual ghost story with hands-on, literally. Everyone in circle, blindfolded, no peeking. Scary parts, eyeballs--peeled grapes, brains--cooked noodles, etc.

Halloween treasure hunt-sent in groups for strange and unusual items.

Halloween Punch-surgical gloves filled with red fruit punch and frozen-then hand ice shapes put into lemonade punch.

Spider Bread- dark frozen bread dough shaped into giant spider and baked-served with pizza dipping sauce.

Surgical gloves filled with popcorn as take-home.

    Great ideas at library too!

    Have fun!!!! DianaLynn

Family fun is a good source and they'll have lots of great ideas. One I liked from years ago but have never made is called "Dip for Brains." You hollow out a cabbage and fill with a yummy dip. Then you use crudite to construct a skelaton shape on a platter. You might be able to find this on the family fun site. I thought it was hysterical. Also, one year I had to make a treat for the class party but I didn't want to do candy. So I made a bunch of fruit kabobs and stuck them into a pumpkin so they looked like hair. then I put a gummy worm on the end of each one. Then I made a face for the pumpkin with vegetables ... brussels sprouts & raisins for the eyes, a jalapeno pepper for a nose, Okra smile. It was so cute and the kids got fruit. This would make a nice centerpiece.

Here's a fun game for that age group: everyone gets a Hershey kiss. They must stick out their tongue and put the (unwrapped)kiss on it, and leave their tongue sticking out. The person with the best willpower (who can resist eating the chocolate) wins. Keep plenty of napkins close by for mopping up (things can get a bit "juicy" LOL). sally

Last year around this time there was some discussion about halloween parties.

I got from the "great food" bb two recipes. I'm sorry I don't have the recipes handy to credit the person/people that posted but my 13 yr old son thought these were a hoot! "Ladies Fingers" basically bread or pretzel dough rolled to knarly shapes w/a 1/2 of an almond for a finger nail. And the 2nd is "eyeballs" basically a buckeyes dipped in white chocolate w/an m & m for the eye color and red cake decorating gel for the blood shot eyes.

If you want more specific directions let me know and I'll post them for you, or you can do a search on the great food bb and see if they come up.

    good luck Ann

    Talking Halloween Idea continued

Just a quick note-received my craft newsletter from BH & G-they will have special Halloween Tricks & Treats issue at grocery stores with plenty of ideas for games, food and crafts.
Mentioned one about letting kids make monster glasses to take home with permanent markers.
Check it out, it might be interesting.

    Halloween Party

Hi. I saw the BH&G issue for Halloween. It has everything you will need for a party. There is some cute stuff in there. There areparty ideas for kids of all ages as well as things for them to do, movies appropriate for different ages etc. Martha Stewart did and issue last year, which I think has been made into a book about Halloween etc. The issue had great ideas.
