    Sadness

...and then they came for me.

I am reminded of that poem as I look out my office window...
there is construction on my street, and all the trees must come down. The cutting crew has finally worked its way down to my building.

It's a shame, as they are large, fully developed trees.

And as I type my office is flooded with light, and I am saddened.

I hate to see green trees being cut down. The hardest thing about the drought last summer was watching large and small trees dying in large numbers. They estimate that Texas lost 500 million trees. I have seen as many as 4 crews cutting in a day here and we still have a lot of dead ones standing. Guess there will be more cutting to try to take those down before hurricane season hits. It hurts to see that -- healthy trees would be even worse.

It seems like they have taken to removing large trees here at night to prevent protests. I just don't know how they can cut down magnificent trees to put in a building or parking lot. Why not work around the tree...

When we built this house a few yrs ago, there was a tree
alongside the driveway, but the person fixing up the driveway for some reason decided to remove it.
When I came home and saw the tree was gone. I blew my top and gave this person a few words I usually do not use. And asked him who the He// gave him permission to remove it? Needless to say he did not answer!!!!!

To be fair, there was no way to save these trees... they are over a water main that must be replaced.

Valeria, I can only imagine your dismay... on your own property!!
