    Red, White, and Blue Sangria

I hope this picture comes out -

    The recipe says:

    sliced strawberries
    blueberries
    pineapple stars
    2 bottles white wine
    1 cup triple sec
equal parts of berry flavored vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup

#1 - I am not familiar with berry flavored vodka - is it pretty common?

#2 Would you think about 1/2 cup each of the vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup? Or how much would you use?

#1 Anymore, yes. Any large liquor store will have it. My question is what berry? Strawberry, blueberry, raspberry.... The possibilities are almost endless.

#2 I don't know. I was thinking of making sangria for the 4th and this would look really cute in one of my drink dispensers but the recipe is a little ... eh. I don't know but something doesn't look like it would work for me.

Maybe someone else has an idea of how to tweak it?

This is how it should look - just remove spaces. If you were using the IMG icon at the top you have to hit "home" and remove the first http:// that is automatically added if you are doing a copy/paste function to insert the address because that will also have an http:// and if they are both there it won't work.

Thanks - that is exactly what I was doing. I agree - the recipe is a bit vague - but it sure looks pretty!

Someone on my CSA FB page just posted a similar recipe but it had basil in it... might be an interesting twist? Without the pineapples.

Actually, basil and mint are both great with pineapple.

Equal parts vodka and lemon juice starts raising my brow (seems like too much lemon juice, but might depend on what you do with everything else). I would also refrain from adding any vodka that has artificially flavored flavoring and I'm not sure if it is easy to tell. That may just be me. It is beautiful and seems worth trying , but I think I'd put the fruit and wine together and then see what needs tweaking before adding any vodka, lemon juice or syrup.

    Red, White & Blue Sangria

This is from RecipeGirl, and gives you the amounts you were asking for. And, yes, it does call for 1/2 cup lemon juice

    red, white & blue sangria
    Yield: 8 to 10 servings
    Prep Time: 15 min
Love this recipe for a patriotic holiday...

    Ingredients:
2 bottles dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc is good)
    1 cup triple sec
    1/2 cup berry-flavored vodka
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup simple syrup (see tips below)
    1 cup blueberries
1 1/2 cups hulled and sliced strawberries
    1 cup raspberries
    1 1/2 cups pineapple chunks

    Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large punch bowl or pitcher and stir well. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours. Serve well-chilled with a good scoop of fruit floating in each drink, or serve over ice.

    Tips:
*To make 1/2 cup simple syrup, boil 1/2 cup water and add 1/2 cup granulated white sugar. Turn heat to simmer and stir until dissolved. Turn off the heat and let cool. Now it's simple syrup!
*Use fresh fruit for this recipe. Frozen just won't be great.
*To make star-shaped pineapple pieces, cut long & wide pieces of pineapple off the side of the fresh fruit. use a star cutter to cut shapes.

Wirh that much wine I wouldn't be afraid of using 1/2 cup of lemon juice.

I'm also sitting here mulling over the ingredients. I'm not quite there that it would go well together. Expensive to find out ~ time and money~ if you didn't like it.

Lovely to look at though and I agree it would make a beautiful center piece.
You can't drink rum on the beach all day if you don't start in the morning.

    Sangria:

    1 3-L Pinot Grigio
    1/2 bottle of 1.75L Brandy
    Juice of 7 lemons
    Juice of 5 limes
2.5 cartons of finely diced strawberries
    1 bunch basil
    2 lbs watermelon (pureed)
    2 cups granulated sugar
Note: The longer you let it sit, the more it will soak up the flavors.
