Where to buy men's small but extra wide shoes?

Does anyone know where we might be able to buy men's shoes in size 6 1/2 EEE (or 7 E)? Thanks for any suggestions!

Zappos.com, you can search by size and width. I just looked quickly, and they don't have a ton, but they have some.

    Same with Nordstrom.com

I don't know anything about this company, but they have wide shoes

    What sort of men's shoe?

I wear a 7 EEEE (yes, that's 4 E) with a high arch and high instep (I'd probably be a size 10 if my feet were flat. LOL) and have to shop around depending on the type of shoe. Size varies a bit as well. Anywhere from 6.5 to 7.5 depending on brand or style.

Work shoes - Red Wing or Boot World have both been good for me.

Casual/dress shoes - Nordstrom carries Rockport in those sizes.

Crosstrainers - New Balance makes smaller sizes in those widths.

Hiking boots - Lowa are wide and come in small sizes. REI carries them (probably other stores like that do too).

Internet - If you know the size/fit for a particular shoe, shop by price (and any goodies like free shipping). I order my New Balance shoes from any internet store just based on price. The style/fit hasn't changed for years, so I buy 2 pair at a time and at the lowest price I can find.

A big issue with small/wide shoes is the manufacturers change the lasts the shoes are made on from time to time and then you have to start all over finding a pair that fit properly.

I totally recommend going to a brick and mortar store the first time to get fitted and determine size depending on type of shoe. It can be real frustrating to try and order a pair of shoes from online and "hope" they will be right only to have to return them and try again.

Thank you for the good leads, Elizabeth. SDCook56, your input is also very helpful. He hates sandals, but I can't bear to see him sweltering in this heat with socks on. I suggested casual loafers that he can wear without socks, and he liked the idea. So I'm thinking of something loafer-like for the summer in which he can do a lot of walking comfortably. He has a pair of Florsheim dress loafers, and I've just asked him to let me know what size they are, tho' he said he needs a shoehorn to put them on. Not many shoe stores in our little college town, but I did read J.C. Penney sells Florsheims, and perhaps they can measure him there for an exact fit for a casual slip-on shoe.

Perhaps Endless.com, Shoebuy, and Amazon (I think Amazon now offers free return shipping on shoes).

I''ve had good luck on those sites, and Zappos when looking for a niche shoe --- a certain width, a color that my local stores might not have etc.

In fact I just received a box from Shoebuy -- love the convenience of getting free shipping both ways. So not spending any money, especially if they don't work out.

    Good luck.

Payless carries a surprising number of wide widths--and it's the only "discount" shoe store I know of that does.

Macy's carries some extended size range shoes on their website. I have ordered for my son and for myself on the longer end, but checked and found a few in each category in the smaller, wide men's shoes too. Between sales and Macy's reward coupons, I have gotten some really good deals on shoes for my son. If you live near a store, you can return them there without having to ship them back. That has worked well for us. I hate mail order shopping for shoes, but it is really the only way for me and for dress shoes for either of the boys. Easy returns and credit cards help.

I second the other recommendations for hard to find sizes too.

Where to buy men's small but wide shoes?

There is also Hitchcock Shoes, Inc. There website is www.wide shoes.com and their phone is 1-800-992-WIDE. I just saw their ad in the current issue of Yankee Magazine. I don't know about them currently but I used to buy shoes from them when one of my sons was a teenager and they were reliable.Their ad says shoes from 5-20 and EEE-EEEEEE.

Ralph, I certainly did not expect my posting to be interpreted as a scam, but simply to help someone with a problem which I had experienced with one of my children. I had no way of knowing that the company would intercept my message, but I can assure you that I will never post here again for any reason.

This is EXACTLY how I interpreted your post. If my husband had wide feet and needed wide shoes, then I would have REALLY appreciated your post.

I think there is a rule about not doing advertising until after 10 posts. and ralph was kind enough to enclose the post in a message so that others could still see the post, but it just had to be reported because we can't have EVERY company in the world coming on here and posting. That would be all we would see.

I hope that you understand. Please don't take offense.

Carol, your post wasn't the one reported, and if it was, then mine should have been as well, since I mentioned the same company.

The post that was reported was the one directly from the company.

At least I think that was Ralph's intention. On the other hand, I've seen plenty of companies post here after their search engines turn up their names in posts, and they have not been reported.

If someone is asking for advice and someone posts the name of a place that was helpful, I don't think that is really spam.

Please don't stop posting just because of this.

    Apologies from Hitchcock Shoes

Dear Carol and everyone on this forum,

I apologize if my post was taken as a spam. Yes, the post on 'mens' wide shoes' came up on our Google Alerts and I responded. It was not my intent to cause any problems to Carol or anyone else. I wanted to thank Carol and clarify what we do, not realizing it would offend or be seen as spamming. There are also other shoe companies that may fit your needs for wide shoes:
    BA Mason
    Just Wide Shoes
    Zappos
    Footsmart
    OrthoFeet

I appreciate everyone's honesty and forthrightness.
    Sincerely,
    Zele Adams

Thanks everyone for your kindness. My wounded paw is now healed and I am over my humiliation. Let me not be the center of such a bruhaha (sp) again!
