    Talking Fit Flops

    Anyone wearing these?

They have been an absolute lifesaver for my knees. Over the winter, I went to a Birkenstock store and saw a pair of boots by this company. I have no idea why these boots appealed to me...but I wasn't going to pay the price. ($180.00) I came home and started looking online and found a pair on Amazon for $80.00 less. BINGO! I wore them for 3 days and the pain in my knees completely disappeared.

Spring came and I wore those boots at home until it just got too hot. So, I looked online and found a pair of fit flops. I wasn't going to pay $90.00 for them and couldn't find them for any less. By that time, my knees were hurting pretty badly, again. We went to the beach and I found a pair on sale for 45.00. Bingo! Took about a week, but my knees completely healed up again.

I am always going to hunt for the best price in this shoe and have been lucky twice, but I am not going to let price stop me anymore because these shoes are wonderful. I went for a manicure, today and the owner of the shop was telling me that she now owns 5 pairs (she had them on today) and that they are the only shoe she will ever wear again (to work) because once she started wearing them her back pain went away.

I DO NOT own stock in this company...But I had to tell you about them. They aren't the prettiest shoe going, but for pain, I would not suggest anything else. I mentioned them to a girl at church and she said the doctors in her office recommends them. I mention them now, because I just noticed that their new line just came out.

I would love to know if anyone else is wearing this shoe and what you think of them!

I found a pair last spring at Ross for $20! They are, unfortunately, a discontinued style for women, but I wear them all summer around the house, and to the various water aerobics classes (not in the pool). I don't know if they do a lot for my knees and back, but my feet never hurt when I'm wearing them. I wore them once to the chiropractor, and he was 2 thumbs-up on the brand!

I sent a note to the company about the style I like (not thong sandals), and got a very nice note back that the style was no longer made for women, and suggested another style, but I can't get past the price tag for how I wear them -- they are like bedroom slippers for me, and I want something I can just slide into... I may have to cave and get thongs, though I don't like them.

I've heard of these before and have been tempted. Nice to know that they work so well for you. I looked for a pair for my DH, who has back issues, but I didn't see anything that he could wear for general purposes around the place.

The only problem I've found with them is walking outside in the yard. I'm not very sure-footed, and the "wobble board" that they use makes me fearful of a turned ankle in the yard, or on any uneven surface.

For men for around the house, may I recommend the "freeway" style? They're slip-ons, but not thongs. I saw several for men when I googled that name.

After the class action lawsuit on the similar shoe made by Skechers, I stopped wearing mine. Not worth it.

If I remember correctly, Sketchers made claims about fitness that FitFlops has removed from their advertising. The chiropractor's endorsement was enough for me. I just don't wear them off the pavement without being careful.

Not that lawsuit. The injury based one. I don't care about my @ss being tight. I do care about a broken hip.

Having worn them 8 months ( minus a couple of weeks ), and being pain free for that entire time with the exception of what may have been considered a warm up time, I will continue to wear them. It's pretty nice not to have to walk backwards up hills and go sideways up stairs.

I don't wear them to church or other dress up events, but otherwise they are on my feet. I make trips to the garden and haven't noticed anything different, but I'm still pretty sure footed, Kay, so that may make a difference.

Probably so -- I'm very skittish about footing since I broke my ankle very badly, several years ago.

I hear ya! My niece is the same way since she broke her ankle in her yard. I took care of my problem when I broke my hip, we sold the horse. Haven't been near one since, so I understand you being skiddish in the yard. I feel the same way about horses!

Oh, you're baaad! Until I read your thread I had never heard of Fit Flops (I live in a cave. ) I got to the end of the thread, went to a website and I have come back to tell you that in 2 days I will be wearing the most expensive pair of shoes I have ever owned! Because of a fear of falling, I chose tie sneakers rather than sandals. Hope they are as comfy and everyone says.

I'll be curious to hear your report on these, LeaHamm; I'm very tempted, myself. But the price is offputting.

Search online for sales. My first pair (boots) were 1/2 off, as were my second (thongs).

Look forward to hearing your review.

Several years ago I bought a pair of thongs and they just didn't work for me. I don't know whether they were too wide or what, but they just didn't feel secure. The idea of another style though certainly sounds promising to me. I'll be waiting to hear your reviews.

Why are these more comfortable than other "comfortable" shoes?

In my experience, some of the comfortable shoes work for others but not for me and vice versa.

Birkenstock cause me severe pains as do the Mephisto - I suspect it's because I've got relatively low arches and the hard arch support just keeps hitting it. On the other hand, no arch support at all is equally painful.

I bought a pair of shoes about 10 years ago that were the most comfortable pair of shoes - they had soft cork soles which immediately conformed to my feet. I wore them until there were literally holes worn through (in my house of course).

I have no idea why they work. I saw the boot, was intrigued, hunted them down for $80.00 less, purchased them and they turned out to be my miracle shoe.

This is the case for everyone and why doctors advise against wearing thongs for any length of time. You have to walk unnaturally to keep them on. You walk unnaturally with them even if you don't realize that you are.

Have you gone to the website? Here's a link to a slide show that talks about why they're so comfortable.

Driving instructors caution that thongs should never be worn when driving.

BUt a lot of the "comfort" shoes talk about the special construction of their soles. I was asking why these were more comfortable than other shoes that also made claims about their special technology.

It's moot for me though since the shoes don't come in W and per zappo reviews, they tend to run narrow.

I'd found some Fit Flops brand shoes on sale at Lord & Taylor last winter; the ones I found were a slip-on boot. I'd heard good things about them, so decided to try them. I liked them, but I wear a half size; the smaller size was a little small (and it was hard to slip them on) and the larger size was too big. Wish they'd come in half sizes.

I agree Gumbeaux. My Dr. told me the same things. I need a good heel cup and either a shoe back or a broad strap. And never, never, never high heels.

Some people can get away with just about any type of foot wear, others can't. I'm one of the can't.

And if I tried to wear the other type of thong this would probably also apply to me.
