Hammster, how can it be spam? The book is available on the Amazon site, it is free for Kindle, and I "bought" it. Most reviewers liked it, although a few mentioned that it was written in an "erotic" style. I can only imagine... but if the recipes are decent I could use it (esp since I have a ton of kale in the garden right now and am kind of hoping that tonight's predicted frost does away with some of it).

Could you explain why you think it's spam??? Maybe I don't understand something.

Technically, spamming is sending a large number of the same message indiscriminately over the internet.

    That isn't what happened here.

However, we consistently use the term "spam" on this board when someone becomes a member and posts for no other reason than to sell something--whether it be porn, aluminum siding, or a cookbook.

One person doesn't feel like this is spammy because they got something they want, and for free. Another person feels like it is spammy because someone joined the forum for, apparently, no other purpose than to provide a link to something they're selling.

The only thing that makes the fact that they were selling a kale cookbook different from selling porn or siding is that you were interested in it. . .

Thanks from me, too, for explaining (although the process to decide whether a post is spam or not seems to be very subjective!).

I still don't think that it's spam since this is a cooking forum and it is a link to a free book that forum members could want, but we will let the moderator decide.

Alas, the pile o' kale in my garden is still alive this morning...

My thought when I saw the OP was: This poster works for the publishing company that plans to produce 10 more of these $3.95 (pulled that figure out of the air) cookbooks and will be back to promote them. Maybe the free one was just a start.
