Buckwheat and Yogurt Waffles with hot Buttered Maple Syrup

These waffles were a huge hit with my family. I am not sure how they manage to taste so hearty without being heavy, but they do. They are from Dawn Yanagihara's new book, Waffles. I did the syrup--it was nothing special invention-wise, but wow we could have licked it off the plates!

As an aside, I always warm the syrup, even the kind that keeps at room temp, to liquify it so it will go farther, allowing us to use less, and to help keep the breakfast warmer longer.
