Talking Outta here for the weekend!!

Just wanted to say 'I'm outta here' to everyone, I'm off to the airport to fly-fly-fly to Minneapolis!! SandyM and I should be sitting in a Mexican restaurant sipping margaritas and gorging ourselves on nachos in about 8 hours! We'll make sure to toast all of you, and we'll be thinking about you all during our hopefully wonderful weekend!

Photos are being taken, we're just not sure how we're going to post them when we get back!! Might have to get one of you computer pros to tell us how to 'host' a few photos so we can provide a link...

and on a serious note...we're both flying for the first time since our American Tragedy. Say a little prayer for the two of us, huh? See ya on Monday!

Prayers and thoughts of wonderful times coming your way! Jewel please don't tire Sandy out too much! Let her catch her breath in between shops....okay! Have the best time!!!

I am heading out soon for our annual girl's weekend in Maine to kick off our Christmas shopping at the outlets and of course enjoy ourselves with the folliage and good seafood. Can't wait for a huge bowl of seafood chowder at Billy's Chowder House in Wells Maine. Yummmmmm!

Gosh Mamasue, can I change my mind? I'll be munching chips & salsa (not gorging, as she so eloquently stated) with our admitted Mexican Food Queen, and you'll be slurping down chowdah in Maine???? <ACK>

Have a wonderful trip yourself, and I hope you get lots of bargains!! Think of me, with that wonderful, wonderful seafood!!!

LOL..but thats okay, cause we could share a good laugh about it in person.

    Jewel and Sandy...

we know that you two are having a great time, I am reminded of "We are two wild and crazy guys..." from Saturday Night Live how many years ago?? That phrase makes me think of the two of you! Can't wait to hear your reviews!! Will Sandy's avatar change from "Hi Gail" to "Now Jewel"??

and don't forget.... We want all the details

    Hi Gang

Well, half of us is back. She's probably landing now, as we speak, as long as things went well at her end.

The events of yesterday had us a little concerned, so needless to say, I'm glad to be home, safe in DH's arms, and I'm sure she'll say the same.

I'll let her explain why no pictures were taken of us together!

The mall was fun, the food was great; how I managed to lose a pound is beyond me, but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. Must have been all of that mall walking yesterday.

Penzeys was so fun, we were there twice. The Kitchen Window??? They certainly won't forget me. It's not too much of a stretch to say we spent almost as much time (and $$$) there as we did at the mall!!

She's a peach, pure and simple, with a heart of gold - she lives up to her nickname. A friendship that started on the internet was forged in real life.

Thanks for your well wishes, everyone.

And Susan? Gail hasn't escaped me yet!

SO glad you are both back safe and sound, Sandy. I'm sure I'm not alone in envying you both and also celebrating the opportunity you had to meet and get to really know one another.

Three cheers to the CL BB for bringing Jewel and Sandy, and really all of us, together

I'm glad to hear that you had fun and are safe at home.

    and now the BIG question:

    Where did you eat?

Inquiring minds need to know... especially since some of these inquiring minds travel to Minneapolis on occasion (and we need good rec's for the next trip!)

No pictures???? Well then you are going to have be very descriptive!! Perhaps these so called non-exsistent pictures were convascated for security reasons????Darn. I wanted to sell them to the Enquirer- Cl Ladies go beserk in Penzey's that sort of thing. Ah well guess I won't quit my day job. Looking forward to all the details!!

Hey everyone! I'm back, sorta.... I'm at work and I'm really late, and can only take a minute, just wanted to publicly thank Sandy for blaming the photo thing on me...

It's hard for two women running around together and sharing the same hotel room to say "Hey stand still in your PJ's and wet hair long enough for me to get a photo of you to post on the BB!" Any other time we were either in a mall, in a store, in a restaurant, or snoozing! We finally decided that we would hand the hotel clerk my digital camera when we checked out this morning, but this little dork wouldn't have known to point the camera in our direction and push a button..so SANDY brought up the idea of just waiting till we got to the airport gate, since we had a two hour wait and someone there could be bribed to take the photo. Once we were there and once I picked out the nice man to bribe...I realized that I had checked my digital camera in the luggage! I almost went and bought a disposable, just to prove to everyone that we DID indeed make this trip, but I then figured that we'd been up since 4am and the bags on our eyes wouldn't look too good on film!!

We did have a wonderful time, though, and spent a lot of time just shopping and hanging out, getting to know each other in person instead of via the typewritten word! We didn't do too much excitement in the food area, but we enjoyed ourselves. Friday night's dinner was Boca Chica Mexican in St. Paul, which was pretty good. Saturday night we did Planet Hollywood, since Sandy had never been, and last night Tony Roma's for ribs! We didn't go for culture and wine tasting, we went for calories and taste! Saturday night I did win over $200 at Mystic Lake Casino, mostly on two nickel machines... I won 2500 nickels twice ($125), put a lot back in, then hit $120 on a dollar machine, then another $100 a few minutes later. Paid for Penzeys!

Spent about $150 at Penzeys and another $100 at the Kitchen Window, and 90% of it was in the one piece of my luggage that was swiped by someone else at the Seattle airport! I've filed a claim, I just hope that if and when I get that suitcase back, my $36 bottle of Double Vanilla and my 15 Madagascar Vanilla beans are still in there...along with my camera, my clothes, and everything else I bought in the last two days!

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers, everyone, we had a blast sitting around and talking about the wonderful people on this board...and by the way, don't let her fool you, Sandy is a Blonde Hottie....

I'm glad you had a great weekend but I feel so bad your luggage is missing. That's a real bummer. I hope you get it back soon.

    oh man!

That stinks -- Jewel, I feel so awful about your luggage! What's really awful is that you never even got to enjoy your new goodies even for a MINUTE! I've got my fingers crossed that it was just some crappy baggage mix-up and the airline will soon call and ask where you want your luggage delivered to.

But I AM glad that you both had such a great time. It sounds like a lot of fun -- especially the "up-till-4am-talking" part.

Glad you're both safe and sound.

I'm glad you guys are back and happy that you had fun! I'm so sorry about your luggage, Jewel. That's awful! I like your choices for meals! I'm usually not much of the culture and wine tasting kind of girl and much prefer the calories and taste! So glad you had a wonderful time!

Ugh! Jewel, how awful. I can relate, I had a computer bag stolen at the SEATTLE AIRPORT. Nice to know with all that supposed security that things are still disappearing. Hopefully, it will just be a mix up.

I think I am going to get a huge poster-sized sticker that says "TAMPONS- EXTRA SUPER ABSORBENCY" on it and paste that on my luggage. Some thief would think twice before picking off my bag.

Glad to hear you two had lots of fun.

Thanks mame, they did get it back to me last night, and it had everything intact! The lady that swiped it called my home the night before because she saw the tag identifying it as OUR SUITCASE! They wanted us to drive 80 miles north to Cedro-Wooley to pick it up, and when I said no they got very testy! They ended up taking it back to the airport because the airport refused to send HER CORRECT suitcase to her 80 miles north too! So basically the old battleaxe had to make the nearly 200 mile round trip and she wasn't happy. Aiport delivered it last night.

So my huge $36 bottle of Double Vanilla and my 15 Vanilla beans are safe and sound!! Along with more spices than I'll ever get around to using...Sandy, what were we thinking??

    surprise, surprise

i'm surprised w/ all the increased airport sercurity that a suitcase could still get mixed up!! next time you will have to hit an italian restaurant called "bucca's".....they serve wine in, no exaggerating, in water glasses! & have the best veal marsala.

glad you enjoyed the MOA, sure miss the twin cities!

Thanks Tammy...actually, security has nothing to do with some old broad snatching my suitcase off of the carousel instead of her own. I honestly don't want to stand in another line to get out of the airport so someone can check luggage number vs. your bag, and since we don't pose a security risk when LEAVING the airport, I don't see it happening..I think it's just something we're always going to have to deal with! DH said I should stand right at the bottom where the stuff first comes down the chute, and I told him that's where EVERYONE stands, and it's hard for a short chick like me to elbow my way into the front! Of course if I had been right there I could have wrestled my bag out of that lady's hand!

And for Italian, if you mean 'Buca De Beppos', DH and I went there a few times in Seattle, and we were never impressed. I hate the menu on the wall and it was the worst Chicken Marsala we'd ever had! Tasted like Pancake Syrup poured all over the chicken. If you mean a different restuarant, sorry!
