    Very OT - For my anniversary I got . . .

    A Visor Handspring.

    I know.

    I asked for jewelry.

    Hubby heard "gadget".

Anyway, I almost took it back, but then talked to a friend who swears by hers so I'm going to give this a try (and hubby says I can get the jewelry anyway!!! whataguy!)

Anyone else have one?? I've been fooling around with it (instead of with hubby since he's off hunting on our anniversary weekend!!) and it's pretty cool, actually.

What should I know, do, download, etc to make this a cool toy I'll use???

    Happy Anniversary, Debie!

I, too have a Visor & absolutely love it. What applications to put on it depends on what you'll use it for (home stuff, school, work, goofing off, etc.).

    Here's a prior thread on PDAs: http://www.cookinglight.com/vbb/show...&highlight=pda

You can go to Handspring's website (www.handspring.com) for lots of good info. Other good sites include:

    www.handango.com
    www.pdabuzz.com
    www.palmgear.com
www.zdnet.com - this is a site for everything computer, but if you click on the PDA or PALM links, there's lots of good stuff there, too.

okay, I should have thought to do a search first . . . duh

I was just on pdabuzz and downloaded a bunch of games and gunk . . . yet another obsession for me to have now.

Bluemoose - visor is like a palmpilot, a personal data thingy that holds all sorts of information for you, date book, addresses, you can go to internet with it, etc. really cool

Cool! DH is upgrading his PDA and I will get the hand me down Cassiopia.

I do hate when I am talking to someone on the phone and they say "wait, let me put that in my (fill in the blank with a name of a PDA)" Uggg. Is it pretentious or am I jealous? Why can't they just say "let me get that number down"?

Have fun with your new toy!

Debie - do you travel much? If so, my absolute favorite program is one called Vindigo. You can check out their website: www.vindigo.com

I think there are currently something like 30 or 50 different cities available. Basically, this program helps you find restaurants, movies, stores, etc. It includes restaurant and movie reviews and lets you search for a specific place based on type of cuisine (or genre, for movies), price, or location. The coolest aspect of it is that it can give you walking directions to places based on where you happen to be standing. I think this is a great feature for when you don't know your way around a city.

I want one!!! I just finished running a two week United Way campaign for my company. I had three Handspring Visor Deluxe's on a silent auction. Boy, I was wishing I could have submitted a bid! I don't know anyone personally that has the handspring PDA, but people that have them really love them. Maybe I could put one on a Hanukkah list.

My DH has one and I must admit, it is cool. As Tracey said, Vindigo is THE COOLEST! very very handy when travelling. It is basically a Zagat guide that you download.

My DH just bought the phone attachment for his Visor. Yep, you get this thing, hook it to the Visor and you got yourself a cell phone. That is pretty neat, I must say. (Yes, until he got this we were the only couple in America with no cell phone. I would have liked to keep it that way but the attachment was "free" so DH couldn't resist)
