Thumbs up Review: Caramelized Onion, Green Bean, and Cherry Tomato Tian - 12/01

We made this the other night and it was very tasty. the only thing i did different was add a lot more parmesan cheese on top. i think the recipe called for 1/4 cup, but i think we must have put on nearly 1c! (DH is a big cheese fan!)

i'd make this one again, but i might even leave out the green beans. they just seemed a little out of place to me, although they were definitely good. DH loved the crispy cheese on top, and i think he'd leave out ALL the veggies next time and just eat the cheese crisp!

Unfortunately, we had a different experience. My husband and I were disappointed with this recipe. Too bland (we didn't increase the cheese). Our green beans were on the mushy side (we prefer barely cooked/crisp veggies). The tomatoes were just texture, no sweetness (probably the tomatoes not the recipe). The carmalized onions were wonderful, however. We felt that this somehow needed to be a cold veggie dish. Not a repeater for us.

I made this last week too, and thought it had nice flavor. I did not increase the cheese(much, that is!). I agree, I usually prefer my veggies a bit more crunchy, but mine still had a little crunch to them. Perhaps next time, I will not even precook them before tossing them in the casserole. Also I used grape tomatoes, not cherry tomatoes. I will definetely make this again, but it's not an everyday kind of vegetable side to throw together quickly.

that is funny because i thought the green beans were fairly crisp. i also used grape tomatoes, and it worked well. i also made this in an 8x8 dish instead of 9x13, so maybe that had something to do with it?

We really liked this. Unfortunately, I made it as a side dish to the ham w/champagne & vanilla glaze (see my review at http://www.cookinglight.com/vbb/show...threadid=18048), and the two sweet tastes didn't exactly go together. I would definitely make it again, only as a side to something a little more complimentary.

I made this last night and loved it. I did skip the step where you pre-cook the beans and they stayed crisp. It was really easy and delicious.
