    Question Clay pots

Can anyone tell me if there is a substitute for using clay pots. The recipe for Pork chops with creamy porcini sauce call for it but I don't have one. Any help would be appreciated. John

    John,

I don't know if there is a substitute for a clay pot, but I did make this recipe without one. I had sold my clay pot (never used) at a garage sale several years ago. That pork chop recipe just looked too good to pass by.

I baked it in a regular 9x13 baking dish and put foil on the top. When I stirred the mixture at the 1 hour mark, the sauce had thickened nicely and everything looked good. After 1 1/2 hours, the gravy had a curtled (Phonetic spelling...Don't know how to spell that!!) appearance. I assume that this would not have happened in the clay pot, but who knows?

The porcini mushroom sauce was delicious and the pork chops came out tender. It was just a little low on "curb appeal" if you know what I mean.

I would be interested in hearing from someone that made this in a clay pot!

    Peggy
