help - new appliances

Help, my first post, don't have a clue what i,m doing. No fancy icons, etc. This is my 1st chat room/bulletin board. Recently bought a home built in 1920 and are finally down to remodeling the kitchen. Looking at a 36" Thermador range top with star burners, Ge monogram bottom freezer,a kitchen aid double oven, and soap stone counter tops. Any advice on above mentioned appliances and is Thermador worth the price or any other other suggestions. My husband and I entertain alot and enjoy cooking. HELP!!

Welcome Jacqui! I can't comment on the specific appliances you mentioned, but we just moved into a new home last week and installed Silestone counters. Here's their website for more info: www.silestoneusa.com I absolutely LOVE the new counters! It's actually made of quartz, but looks and performs exactly like granite - you can cut on it, put hot pots directly on it, and it doesn't need any maintenance like granite does. It's also a good bit cheaper than granite. We got ours from Home Depot (they installed it, too) and we were very happy with the service we received. DH and I also love to cook and entertain and we did a lot of research on countertops before deciding on Silestone. Consumer Reports recently did an entire issue on kitchen remodeling (I forget which issue - July maybe?) so that would be worth finding - it's full of valuable information. They rated countertops and Silestone came out #1. I don't know what soap stone is, but I thought I'd throw Silestone into the mix just to make your decision a little harder!
