Thread: Eeek! Turkey looks bruised? Bad or okay?

Question Eeek! Turkey looks bruised? Bad or okay?

I know no one's out there, but I have to ask anyway -- the turkey has a bruise on it. Purple-y, just like a bruise on your shin. I've never seen that before, but my mom says it's still fine, especially because it's on the back and we can just skip carving that area. Is the turkey okay to cook and serve?

    I am here...

    BRUISED TURKEYS
USDA states that if a turkey is bruised in a small area, it is safe to eat. If the turkey is severely bruised return it to the store. The bruised area will be darker after roasting.

    that came from Kroger's website
