    Colorado Collage-anyone own this?

A woman on a Canadian website said this Junior League book from Denver is the best cookbook she owns bar none. Now of course I am intrigued-anyone own this book ? What do you think of it?

Maureen- I do have this cookbook. I have to admit, though, that I have probably only made about 2 or 3 things out of it (and can't even remember what they were!) It is a really interesting cookbook, though, with lots of great, interesting recipes. I also have Colorado Cache (another one by the Jr League of Denver) but I like Colorado Collage better.

My mom has this and it has some nice recipes for entertaining. I don't find it particularly vegetarian friendly, though. The recipes are tasty and uncomplicated, but generally pretty crowd-pleasing. As with most Junior League cookbooks there's a regional emphasis, so there's a good bit of southwestern-style food in the book. I generally like Junior League cookbooks- the food is good, and the stories/background for the recipes are fun too.

I have it! I love it!!

DH and I got the 3 books that were put out by the Junior League of Denver for a wedding gift. The best part is that DH's aunt has had these books for a long time, and she took the time to go through and write her notes by a lot of the recipes. I have the Colorado Cache, Colorado Collage and Creme de Colorado. There's a new one out called Colorado Colores, but I have not really had a chance to look through it.

I have not made tons of stuff out of it, but its a good place to look when I need ideas.

I have to admit I like Junior League books. We have a few up here as well. I noticed there is one avaiable on ebay. I can order it through amazon.ca for 26.00 Cdn. and with shipping etc. it comes to 34.00. I don't know if it is worth that. So if anyone of you ladies sees a copy in a secondhand store or garage sale let me know!!
(If it's any cheaper than the price I mentioned I'd gladly pay it). I figure if its not my cup of tea my sister who entertains alot would like it.

I was in Daedulus (large book and music wharehouse) today and saw a book called the Junior league Cookbook. It was pretty big, but I didn't pick it up to check any of the recipes, because I thought the recipes would be not at all light. Maybe i'll go back there and check it out.

Maureen- If you'd be interested in my Colorado Cache, you're welcome to it. I can mail it to you. It really does have many great sounding recipes, but I have this weird hang up about needing pictures in my cookbooks! The one I have is paperback, w/out pictures, so I think that's really why I haven't perused it that much.

Have it, love it. Have only made one "bad" recipe from it.

Colorado Cache is probably my most loved of my "Colorado" cookbooks.. they all have great recipes in them and Collage is no dissapointment there either. They are all worth the money. I saw the new one, "Colorado Colore" the other day-absolutely beautiful pics! Sue

I actually found Colorado Cache at a used bookstore here. I didn't buy it-maybe I should have? It didn't have any pictures and nothing umped out at me...perhaps a second look is in order!
Thank you so much for your kind offer SueK!

I got it for Christmas from a friend as an inspirational gift--seeing as how I want to move to CO in the near future. However, I have this bad habit of collecting cookbooks/magazines and rarely cooking from them. I do read them to get ideas, though. Now I need to thumb through mine again. THere was a rum-baked black bean recipe that I was going to do on New Year's Day, since it's an all day type of thing, but my parents motorcycle wreck a few days before then changed my plans and I forgot about it. Maybe this weekend...
There were some wonderful sounding recipes, and beautiful pictures in it.

My mom was given Colorado Colores as a Christmas gift. It does have beautiful pictures, and the recipes look really good (not light, but most could probably be lightened pretty easily). I may have to snag her copy next time I am home, as she doesn't cook a lot these days
