    Question freezing bread machine bread

    What's the best way to wrap bread machine bread before freezing it? And what's the best way to thaw it?

    Here's some information I got of Father Dominic's website (does a bread show on PBS).

     Thawing frozen bread will take about 2 to 3 hours at room temperature, or about 6 to 8 minutes on the defrost setting of your microwave. If you slice your bread before freezing, you can toast it straight out of the freezer.

     To warm bread, wrap loaf in foil and heat in a 350-degree oven for 15 to 30 minutes. Unwrap bread in the last 5 minutes to produce a crisp crust. Thaw frozen bread thoroughly before warming in oven.

    (I often do not thaw bread before warming it)

    I agree about the ease of slicing, but just FYI....it will get dried out more easily.

    I cut the loaf in half before freezing. Then we can just use half and keep the other half frozen until later. It was always 'fresh'.

    I just put mine in a freezer bag. It is smart to slice it first too--then you can just pull out pieces as you want them!
