Personal trainer - tip?

Hi everyone,

I have what may be a stupid question... I am hiring a personal trainer for a one hour session. Is it standard procedure to tip in this industry? My assumption would be yes, but I just wanted to see what other people's opinions on this are.

Oh, I thought you were going to ask about tips about hiring trainers, not actual TIPS! I've had several trainers and never tipped - nor I have ever seen anyone else tipping their trainers. They generally work for themselves, set their hourly rate and do pretty well so it doesn't seem like a tipping type thing like a waitress who actually only makes $3 an hour or whatever. Maybe others have seen different but I've never heard of such a thing.

I have only tipped a trainer when I had an ongoing relationship with them (i.e., weekly for 6 months) and then only at Xmas.

For your situation, I would say NO.
