Thread: Wedding dress!

    Wedding dress!

    Today I was a princess.

My mother, stepmother and I went wedding dress shopping today. (yes, I know, all three of us and it was just great) The day started out very stressfully: saying goodbye to my best friend who is moving to California, getting lost and then being a half hour late for the dress appointment, etc... I picked out 5 dresses to try on, including one that I had seen in a magazine that was at this store. I put that dress on first and stepped up onto that platformy thing and that was it. I knew, mom knew, the salesperson knew. "The dress." Everybody told me you'll know it when you put it on and I knew. While I was still wearing it DF called to say hi and he said, "I don't know what you're wearing right now, but you're beautiful and I love you." That just about sealed the deal.

The whole day was so wonderful. It was a very emotional time for my Mom and I and I was so glad that we included my stepmom, who I am close to and my mom is friends with. She was so touched to have been asked to come and I couldn't think of more special people to have shared this occasion with. And then to come home and see my DF and know that this is my life......wow. I am a lucky girl.

I don't know how to post pics, but if anyone wants to see it: www.palomablanca.com and it's style 6516.

As you can tell, I'm pretty emotional today.

sounds like a great day! what a super DF.

I am dying to see the dress but I looked through all the numbers and couldn't find 6516. are you sure that is the number, and if so, where is it?

Wow, you are very fortunate indeed...on so many levels .
And the dress is gorgeous - so elegant!
I'm sorry about your girlfriend moving away - it's heartbreaking isn't it? But at least California is close! A quick, cheap-o flight away! (I know...it's not the same.) But I'm glad your day turned out so well, and left you looking forward rather than back.
    Best of luck to you.

val- if you go to "next gallery" (second page of images) should be about half way down, on the left I think. strapless, with the model leaning in a chair.

Thanks for the tip, Canice. I didn't see the scroll buttons in the middle of the page. It IS on the second gallery, and you use the scroll buttons to go further down the page. She's actually sitting on a chair with a blue cushion.

Janet - the dress is absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations on finding the perfect fit - dress and future husband!

What a GORGEOUS dress! What kind of flowers will you carry? Have you decided on a headpiece/veil?

Can't wait to see the pictures - congratulations!

Thanks everyone! I'm still floating.... I thought it was a crazy coincidence that DF called while I was wearing that dress - my stepmom called it a sign. Not sure about that, but it works.

As for the veil, I'm not quite sure yet. I definitely want my hair up and for the veil to be at the back of my head, elbow length. Probably a pretty clip or tiara of some sort.

I'm still struggling with the flowers. With the Vegas wedding, my bouquet is included in the package with the chapel, but I do get to choose my own flowers. I'm waiting for DF to decide what color shirt/tie (he's wearing a suit - as are the GM) he's going to wear so I can decide on flowers. My BM will be wearing black, so that is already decided. I know I want stephanotis and maybe calla lillies. I have until February to figure this out, so plenty of time.

    Janet, it's a beautiful dress!

One thought on flowers- make sure you like the scent of whatever you select. My best friend chose lilies and had to ditch her bouquet (we disguised this as "putting it on display near the cake table") as soon as we got to the reception. The smell of the lilies made her ill. It was pretty overpowering!
