Fish oil pills that aren't huge

Does anyone know if you can buy fish oil pills that aren't the size of submarines? It seems that all the pills out there are so big, and I was just wondering if anyone knows of a brand that's different. I want to buy them for someone who's uncomfortable swallowing such big pills. Thanks for any info.

Prevention magazine had a supplement listed that was supposed to taste good (orange flavored) and in a gel form.
Check out their site and do a search. I've got some of their old mags and will sift through if nothing comes up.

I think Wallycat is referring to Coromega . I had some samples several years ago, which DH tried. He said they weren't bad.

It was suggested to me to buy deodorized fish oil pills as the regular ones can cause a fishy tasting "burp". A friend of mine tried the regular and ended up throwing out the bottle because he couldn't handle the aftertaste. I have had no problems wiht the deodorized kind.

It's a give and take. Smaller capsules, and you have to end up taking more. If you really hate the size use fish oil in a bottle or bite the capsules, suck the oil out, and spit the capsule out! I have been impressed with Nordic Naturals' line of fish oil products. They sent me some samples which generally tasted pretty good (they are flavored lemon, orange or strawberry) and I also asked for outside testing of thier products for lead and other contaminants found in fish oil. I was impressed with the results. It seems the company makes a good, clean product.

Unless your doctor thinks you have a problem metabolizing alpha linoleic acid (ALA), you could also take flaxseed oil and get the same results. Fish oils are a little further down the metabolic chain from flaxseed oil, and some people are missing an enzyme that converts flaxseed oil to fish oil and beyond, which is why they need fish oil instead of flax. If you can do flaxseed oil, though, I would do so because it is cheaper and easier to find organic sources that don't have the contamination problems that fish oils do. Plus flaxseed oil tastes quite a bit better than fish oil.

I think you can find Nordic Naturals online or at most health food stores. I think the typical bottle runs between $20 and $25.
