Question ISO - Beginner Yoga tapes

I'm looking for a a couple Yoga tapes to give to my mother as a Christmas present. What I'm looking for are tapes that are truly for beginners, easy to follow, and long enough (I'd figure between 30-45 minutes or so) for her to get a good workout in. If it helps, I'm looking for the tapes because I heard that Yoga was good for people with Parkinson's Disease (PD) and helping them mitigate the effects of the tremors and slowed walking. Other contributing issues are, she's 65, has osteoporosis, is in her 15th year of diagnosed PD, and although in good shape (and has been most of her life) she doesn't do too well with higher impact exercises.

    TIA.

    Try this link. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/se...014088-4708818

I did a search on Amazon.com and got this listing of tapes. Lilias' tapes are very gentle and slow, but I've found her a trifle boring.

The other ones are outlined in the listing, and they're all pretty good.

I spent a lot of time here on the boards last week searching for old thread about this same thing. I then went to Target and got Yoga Journal's Yoga for Beginners (a Gaiam tape) with Patricia Walden. I don't know anything about it yet, cause I wont start until tomorrow.

I might suggest the AM/PM Yoga tapes. These are 2 tapes that you can buy and they run about 20 minutes each. I tend to do the PM tape a little more often than the AM tape, but neither of them has difficult moves.

there is a "yoga for dummies" tape that is nice for a beginner. introduces you to very basic moves with nothing too challenging. I could do all the moves reasonably well right away, which is encouraging.

I have this DVD (also has a stress workout on mine) and I use it quite a bit! This is the first video I bought for learning Yoga and its great!

    Thanks for the inputs

Thanks to everyone so far, I'll be looking for these videos plus any others that show up on the list later.

    beginner yoga tapes

I am 52 years old and I would recommend the yoga for dummies and the am/pm yoga tapes. All of these tapes are gentle and do not include anything that is hard on the body. As we get older we need to look for gentler forms of exercise. I have also started to add Pilates to my routine to add some variety.

    Hi HealthyinMN,
Where did you buy this DVD? I have just started a yoga class through the Y and would love to pick up some DVDs for home. I have only seen the AM/PM in tape format and I need DVD (since a DVD player is what we have in the room I will do yoga in). Also the tape I found did not have the stress workout on it and that sounds like a nice addition!
    Thanks!

Thanks for the confirmation that this is the right path to take for her. She is looking to do things to improve her quality of life and I think the Yoga will really help her.
