Question Can I freeze half & half?

On one of the other threads I read recently, some of the BB'ers recommended freezing leftover buttermilk. I was wondering if it's possible to do the same with half & half, since I have quite a bit left over from a recipe I tried this past weekend.

    Thanks in advance! Jenny

If your half and half is the equivalent to our full cream milk (I think it is, but am open to argument) then yes, you can freeze it. But why not try? You're not going to lose anything since it will go off anyway if you don't. . . ?

I have seen frozen containers of half and half in the freezer of a very good gourmet-style diner. I'm not sure if they used the thawed product for cooking or for coffee. If I remember correctly, the best way to thaw it is in the refrigerator rather than the microwave.

Another alternative is to purchase "ultra-pasturized" half and half that keeps a long time. I have used that product and it performs the same way as the regular.
