Cooks Essentials (QVC) 6 qt Digital Pressure Cooker $110

With all the discussion on pressure cookers lately, thought someone might be interested. I look forward to some pressure cooker threads after the holidays (i.e., when I receive mine!)

after touring QVC's website further, I see they have the 8 qt digital pressure cooker for $147 -- it appears to be the same model I just purchased elsewhere for $169!

I rec'd an email about the 8qt ones we ordered and it seems they are out of stock. Did you not get the same email? I have wrtten to them because I planned on giving one for a wedding gift and need it by 12/27. If they can't guarantee delivery by then I may just order from QVC...can't believe you found it $20+ cheaper!

Oops, yes I did receive that backorder email. Canceled my order (but no confirmation of the CANCELLATION yet.) I'm going to take a chance and order the one from QVC. It's the same thing! Hope I don't end up with two!

OK here's the scoop...the 8 qt pressure cooker is still on special at $147.12. The s&h is $11.97, then they add SALES TAX! $11.97 bringing the total to $171.06. Still about a $12 savings, but when did they start charging tax? I thought tax only applied if the merchant has a location in your state (or something to that effect.) Don't think I've ever paid sales tax when ordering on-line.

Well, I have paid sale tax on-line if the business has a location in Texas. Not too sure about this order since they didn't accept the visa that we use for online orders but accepted one I rarely use... Even with the tax and shipping it came to less than the 199.oo at other sites. So if one just gets here in time for the wedding.....

I have the Cooks Essentials 6 qt and I just love it! I never really looked at any other models as I have had Cooks Essentials pots and pans for about 3 years now and have been very happy with them (I do wish I had gotten the hard anodized though). I bought the pressure cooker when they had it as a "Today's Special" and I think I paid around $90 for it! I don't remember if I had to pay sales tax though.

Wow phantom, you got a really good deal! They are now running the 6 qt at $110...

In looking at the machine, I'm certain it is made by the same manufacturer as the Russell Hobbs and probably the Farberware as well. I'm sure it's a good quality machine.

Can't wait to get it!

sneezles, I guess I could have just emailed you this information from the beginning -- I'm not much of one for carrying on a private conversation in front of everyone!

Anyway, do this! Call the place where you ordered your pressure cookers. Tell them you want a PRICE MATCH to the ones at QVC. That way, you will get the cheapest price AND they don't charge sales tax, either!

You should have their toll-free number on the email they sent you regarding the backorder. Then there is an option to request a price match!

You're not going to believe this but I now have 4 pressure cookers enroute! Geez-louise, my DH is going to have a cow!!! I thought I had canceled the first order...wrong!

Are you kidding me??? Oh my gosh. CALL THEM AND CANCEL ONE OF THE ORDERS!! Surely they don't have it available right now, and you can cancel.

Oh my!!!! I sure do hope that you can get some of them cancelled!

You know, when I ordered the pressure cooker, I was a little hesitant because of the price - I had just begun to think about getting one and hadn't done much research so I didn't know how prices were. I'm really, really glad that I went ahead and ordered it!

I hope that you are just as happy when you get yours.

Unfortunately, the email saying it was out of stock was wrong and I checked the tracking number for both orders and they are enroute so I'll just be returning the first one! Nothing like a plethora of pressure cookers!
