    Smile Burlington/Oakville/Mississauga??

Doesn't look like too many Canadians are posting here, but if anyone's interested in forming a GTA supper club, I'd love to participate!

There are Canadians here! We just hide well

Natasha often answers SW ON/GTA posts. You could PM her. I'm west of you, but could be persuaded.

    Question West GTA Supper Club

Did anything come of the suggestion for a supper club for West GTA? I'd be interested in joining a supper club along with my spouse.
    Thanks,

    Another GTA gal here

I just moved back to Toronto after a few years of grad school and I'm toying with the idea of joining a supper club. If one does materialize on these forums, I'd love to hear about it.

Still no West GTA supper club out there that I know of, but I'd certainly be interested in forming one. I've had mixed success with the Toronto area CL supper club because of peoples' busy schedules, members moving, and especially the driving. On the other hand, I have met some wonderful people through it and would like to keep a supper club going. I think maybe Toronto is SO big that it might make more sense to have a West GTA club instead of a Toronto-wide one, to minimize driving. I have one friend whom I am 99% sure would be game to join also.

Please send me an e-mail at NatashaM39@cs.com if you're interested and maybe we can get this going!

I'm game...I just have no spouse

While I'm not in Milton, Natasha knows that I'm somewhat willing to drive.

I'm not sure my husband would be too keen on joining a supper club, and my other friend who'd probably like to join is single. So maybe we could do a spouses-welcome-but-not-required club?

Okay, that sounds bad, but you know what I mean

I don't mind driving to/around Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Georgetown, Brantford... just don't make me go towards the Big Smoke

    West GTA Supper Club

I second your vote on staying away from the Big Smoke!
I mentioned the spouse because I know my husband would enjoy a supper club however he does not want to be the only guy there. If there are no other spouses, it would be just me.
Any thoughts on how often to get together? I don't think I could swing more than once a month.

    Good morning, Sylvia!

In the past with supper club we have tried to do once a month and sometimes managed, but sometimes it was more like 6 weeks or so. That works well for me; I agree with you that more than once a month is too hard.

My spouse could maybe be persuaded to come out for supper club He does really enjoy cooking, after all. Maybe he'd participate occasionally, especially if there's another guy there! I'll have to ask him

Once a month to every 6 weeks sounds good to me. More than that just gets into a scheduling nightmare.

    meeting frequency

I vote for every six weeks then. It certainly feels more doable for me.

Thumbs up Supper Club in the WGTA

Hi Everyone! I think a supper club is a great idea. I would be interested in joining a once-every-6-weeks club like this too! Not sure my hubby would go for it, but I'd like it! Can anyone share past experiences they've had with a supper club?

Every 6 weeks sounds good to me too.

Mom of 4 (Rhonda), I was in a supper club sporadically for a couple of years and enjoyed it very much. We sometimes would cook a dish or two together, but usually there were a few dishes that were made ahead and brought to the dinner. That was partly due to time constraints, partly due to kitchen space, and partly due to the nature of the dishes in question (i.e., some things had to cool beforehand or something). It worked out well and we enjoyed the chance to try so many different things, including recipes we might never have tried on our own.

We used to meet on Sundays, in the late afternoon/early evening so things wouldn't run too late, and because Saturdays tended to be more hectic for people. Personally, I'm pretty flexible about Saturday or Sunday, though.

    What does everyone think?

    day to meet

Sundays wouldn't work for me. We have agreed to set that day aside as 'family day'. Saturdays would work.
What does everyone think about getting together for coffee somewhere to meet and hash out the details to get started?

I'd prefer not to meet Sundays. And the coffee chat sounds good to me!

I like the idea of meeting for coffee too. Shall we take this offline and communicate via e-mail? My e-mail address is NatashaM39@cs.com.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
