Question Will the Groundhog See His Shadow?

Living only about an hour from Punxsutawney, I'm guessing he'll see his shadow.

DD and I had a talk about this this afternoon. I told her he always sees his shadow because he has 100 TV camera lights blazing on him, so of course he'll see a shadow! I honestly cannot remember the last time they said he supposedly did not see it.

With the way the weather's been lately, I'm betting he will see his shadow. And I think winter might last more than six weeks, too.

I don't think that he will because he won't want to even come out in this horrible cold that we're experiencing! So I voted no

They pull the poor chubby thing out of his "hole" (den) anyway, so does he have a choice??? It's really not even his call any more.

I'll have to call my own personal West Coast ground hog and ask her what she thinks! (My sister is born on Ground Hog Day so I always use her as my reference!)

I voted no because it seems like you have had enough cold weather to last a lifetime. I know some people like it cold but I can't even imagine any temperature lower than 60F at the moment.

That's so true. They show TV people pulling this little guy out of the ground and he never looks real happy about it, either.

Well, even if he sees his shadow, I have hope that spring is here fairly soon....it's getting lighter out at night past 5:30 or so....this gives me thoughts of spring.

Checking back in to say "yes". My ground hog sister predicts that she will see her shadow on Monday.

    Oh my...

Local news reported that 40,000, yes that's forty thousand, people are scheduled to attend the ceremonies in Punxsutawney tomorrow! And, seven weddings are to be performed.

I go through that town whenever I drive "home" to see my family, and I just don't see where all these people will go! I'd be surprised if Punxsy has more than 15,000 residents...

Doesn't he ALWAYS see his shadow? I can't ever remember a time when he did not. We have a lot of winter yet to go, IMO.

Whether he sees it or not, I just hope it warms up a bit! It's now been a full month of snow on the ground and below-freezing temps. Ugh. You know it's been a cold winter when you think 32º (the supposed high for today) sounds really good!

    Are you serious ?! Unbelievable!!

I just heard on the news that the ground hog saw his shadow! It's pouring rain here, so my West Coast ground hog sister won't see hers!

I don't know....I don't think anyone here could really tell what a happy groundhog looks like. I'm willing to bet he's pretty well treated....

Did anyone else see the official kiss him on the mouth? Who knows...maybe they brush his teeth for the occasion...but still...eck!

Well, General Beauregard Lee (GA's official ground hog) didn't see is shadow today so we're supposed to have an early spring. I'd like to see some snow (at least once). It's been cold enough, but always dry. Either that or just warm enough for some freezing rain (like today) ICK!

I couldn't go without Ginger. She was asking to visit the North Pole last month because she wanted to see some snow.

Bring her along, Leigh! Sara would have a blast sled-riding with her.

I guess Punxy Phil was right - we're due to get 5-7" of more snow tomorrow.

Oh-I did see a clip of that guy kissing him, too, when I watched the noon news. Blech.

I was wrong. That town has about 6,500 residents! So there are six times that number roaming the streets, most in a drunken stupor, celebrating the Day of the Groundhog... Glad I'm not there!

Also, according to the newspaper, the groundhog sees his shadow approximately 85% of the time. Darn rodent...
