Thumbs down Chocolate Pound Cake, Dec 96

I just tried this cake because, well, chocolate!, having copied it from another thread ages ago (it's one of those days where you need chocolate - I managed to lose my father's wedding ring, which I wear as a thumb ring, while I was in town today, and careful retracing of my steps didn't found it).

What a waste of time and ingredients. It's just a blah, boring cake, with a little bit of a chocolate flavour, but not nearly enough for me. I was wanting rich and moist - I got dry and boring.

I should've stuck with my old faithful, CL's Buttermilk-Chocolate Cake, which is rich and moist.

Oh well. The only positive I can say about this recipe is that the cake did turn out pretty big - so if big is what you're looking for, go for it!

Bummer, and so not only do you have a cake you don't like much, you have a LOT of it. Figures doesn't it?

Hope your ring turns up and better chocolate comes your way.

Precisely. And because it used heaps of flour and eggs, and I do have a tight food budget after all, I can't face throwing it out and wasting food (I mean, it's bad, but not inedible). So last night my boyfriend and I sat on the couch eating chocolate cake we didn't like while I cried about losing my ring.
