Anyone entering the Hershey Recipe contest?

Hi everyone, I have been thinking about this contest for at least a month now, trying to decide if I should enter something...My dilema is that if I want to enter a recipe or two, I will have to create, bake, test, and create, bake, test...there goes the calorie counting ...any of you considering entering? I was shocked to find out how many different products Hershey actually distributes! All of them fair game for the contest too!

I am just not a baker - otherwise I would. I've submitted recipes to CL before - they haven't taken one yet - their loss!

I think you should enter this contest. I wish I could!! Unfortunately, all the recipes I make are not orginals. I have gotten in the habit of using recipes. I like consistent results. If you can be original, I say go for it!!!

Leanne and Leonard, I too thought I was too much of a recipe follower to enter such a contest, then I looked at the product list on the Hershey website..Oh my! You must check it out!...There are many pages of products, some, (many) I never even knew Hershey distributed. Anyway, lets all go for it...$5000.00 for 1st place, not bad

Actually, I did a recipe last year for Pennsylvania's Hershey Cocoa Cake contest. It won at the local level, and I took the cake to the state competition and won third place! There are about 15+ cakes at the local level, and each local fair sends a winner to the state comp., about 100 or so. I was thrilled. I've done a lot of cakes over the years for this competition, and I finally placed at the state level.

But...it's an original recipe and it just happens to me MUCH lower in fat than the regular butter cake, so I just have to come up with a good icing to go with it. I'll have to check out the other products and see what else I can do!
