Twin Cities - looking for new members

Looking for new members for an existing club in Mpls. St. Paul area. Club in existence for about three years. Some members are newer. Recently lost some members because of life changes - new babies, moving, etc. Dinners have been EXCELLENT!! Club has both couples and singles.

I think I would be interested in joining your cooking club. I live in St. Paul in the Highland Park neighborhood. I'm a 46 year old mother of two (11 and 13). Could you tell me how your club works, when you meet, etc. Thanks.

We've tried to meet every month in the past, which worked for awhile, but lately we've met a little less often. This year we met in Sept., Oct., Jan., March and May, as well as a restaurant meeting in December. Whomever volunteers to be the host decides on the menu or asks for suggestions. Then the others volunteer for whatever course they choose. We're pretty flexible. We've used many Cooking Light recipes, but also some others. We usually prepare as much of our own course as we can at our own homes, and sometimes do a little finish work at the host home. Is there anything else specific that you wanted to know?

I've just moved here, and am buying a home in the Nokomis/Minnehaha area. Is your club anywhere in the vicinity or do you know of any that are?

Wow - your address says that you're from Grand Junction, CO! My husband has relatives in Salida, Montrose and Fairplay.

Anyway, the club members live in various parts of the Twin Cities. Don't know if you have a map, but some of our locations are:
Prior Lake, St. Louis Park, Edina, St. Paul and Chanhassen.

Well that's quite a ways, but I won't say "too far" yet. It's funny - it's usually potential members who have decided that WE'RE too far! One thing to consider is how far YOU are willing to travel. Did you see in my previous posting where we're all from (Prior Lake, St. Louis Park, Edina, Chanhassen and St. Paul)? Some of those places would be a serious drive for you, especially Prior Lake and St. Paul. I entered Buffalo, MN (with no street address) into mapquest and looked for directions to both our house and the St. Paul couple's house. They both came up with directions that were over an hour. What do you think of that?

We certainly have space for someone else in the group. You might want to consider travel times to people's homes. Although your location is pretty far from my own, our group is already spread out all over the metropolitan area, so I'd be O.K. with it myself. What do YOU think? You might want to look at a map. This is where the rest of the group lives: St. Louis Park, Chanhassen, Edina, St. Paul and Prior Lake. I can also ask the others and see what they think. One other question - is it just yourself who is interested or do you have a partner / spouse? We have a mix of couples and singles in our group, so either way, it would work with us. Let me know when you can what you opinion is.

Hi Joan,

If you still have space, I would be interested in joining. I live in Shoreview. The only issue is that I am a vegetarian- although I do eat fish. I have no problem not being able to eat other people's dishes, but would not be willing to cook anything with meat in it. I live with my boyfriend, and he is interested in joining as well. We are a youg professional couple (ages 28 & 34), and I am very interested in combining one of my favorite hobbies- cooking recipes from Cooking Light with meeting other people in the Twin Cities. I would be interested in joining your cooking club, if there's still room. I was in one last year, but we only met 2 or 3 times and then it kind of fizzled out. Do you normally meet during the week or on the weekend? Let me know if you have room for one more.
I live in Bloomington, and I'm 26. My husband likes to cook too, but it would just be me joining the club.

Can you all tell me whether you're interested in joining the club with someone else (boyfriend, husband, whatever) or just by yourself? Either way is O.K., since right now we have three couples and two single women. I just wanted to get an idea how many people are interested.
