    Cookies to send overseas

I know there are some people on this board who have family members deployed right now. DH was in the military, and many of our friends still serve. I'd like to send a care package to my friend's brother, and include some homemade treats if possible. Does anyone have a recipe that tastes good and would make the trip? I'm having flashbacks to the chocolate chip hockey pucks that arrived one month after I sent them when DH was deployed years ago, and I don't want to repeat such a disappointment.

    Many thanks,

    mlynn

I don't have any experience with shipping cookies overseas, but meringues keep well as long as they are sealed airtight. So do biscotti and pizzelles. The meringues and pizzelles would need some carefull packaging though.

Shortbread cookies get better with age and will last at least 2 weeks, if I remember correctly, maybe longer. They are fragile, though, so they would need to be packed very well. Mmmm...maybe some shortbread triangles dipped in chocolate? Mmm....
