    Review: Linguine with Basil-Pea Cream (Jan/Feb 2005)

Caveat: this recipe is one of the most visually unappealing dishes I've seen/made in a long time. I'm not surprised I haven't seen a review of it yet. Given the picture in the magazine and the name of the recipe, I'm not even sure what possessed me to try it.

That said, I thought this was very good. You do have to be a BIG fan of peas, though. And not be too queebed by texture issues. The pureed part of the sauce is somewhat pesto like, but because it's basically blended peas, it also has a somewhat grainy texture. I don't think DH will like it, but he had already eaten dinner by the time I got home, so he didn't try it. I used the menu suggestion in the magazine and had this with a tomato-mozzarella salad on the side.

You are correct about the visual of this item. My kids could never get passed the green/texture look. I thought it was good, and it was still pretty good the next day for lunch. My DH didn't care for it. I think he didn't like the looks of it either. In our house taste was 7/10, visual 2/10.
