ISO: Book reco for teen level

The book is actually for a prolific adult reader, but she's very ill and doesn't have the energy for a 500 page tome by a Yale PhD. She just wants a well-researched, well-written book on the Lewis & Clark expedition; something accurate, interesting, and engaging but not too taxing. She thought maybe something for a younger audience would be a good choice.
Any suggestions most appreciated.

I am sorry that I can't recomend a book for you but I would like to recomend checking with your local librarian for some possible titles. They are so helpful and up here in Seattle, they have on-line support so you don't even have to pick up the phone or go into the library to ask your question.
