Question Handspring Treo 600 or BlackBerry 7290?

DH and I will be signing a new wireless contract in a few days and I'm leaning toward either the Treo 600 or BlackBerry 7290. Does anyone have any experience with either? I would love having PDA and cell phone in one device but can't decide between the two.

    Help!

One of the IT industry mags we get (eWeek maybe?) did a comparison of the Treo, Blackberry and one other... anyway, the Treo was their top choice, the Blackberry their last choice. I'll try to find the article for you, cuz I know my vague recollections probably aren't much help!

OK, it was the Treo 650. Here's the review:

And the Blackberry 7100t. Here's that review:

My husband has a pocket PC. It is an AudioVox XV6600. That thing is cool. He needs to be able to access his servers from anywhere. Lugging around his laptop isn't always an option.

I think they're more expensive, thought. His is through Verizon. The speaker phone is pathetic, it isn't loud enough to carry on a conversation. Check out the one you're getting. You might think, "why would I need that?" ...to talk and take notes, access a file, etc. The car charger broke in a week. (this is a guy who kept Transformers in their original packaging and never breaks anything.) Verizon replaced it without a problem. The email is really easy to do and syncs effortlessly with outlook. For someone who lives and dies by his schedule on outlook...

I hope you have fun with your new toy. I think everyone knows about Blackberry because the name is so unique.

Thanks for the info. We haven't signed our contract yet but my HP iPAQ died and, thanks to our Best Buy warranty, it was replaced with the new and improved model. I had the 1945 and now have the 5150 so there's really no need for the PDA phone now. That's sort of bittersweet. I really wanted to consolidate devices but can't complain about the free upgrade. I've always loved my iPAQ.

Anyway, thanks again for the help!

I have a Palm Treo 600 with Verizon and I love it. It was more than I would normally ever pay for a phone but my Palm Pilot had died so I was basically replacing two devices with one (I had been hanging onto an old Motorola flip phone for years). I love having the phone and PDA consolidated so I have just one thing to throw in my purse and keep track of. The only downside is that I'm hesitant to let my kids use it or take it anywhere ... it's too expensive to replace! I used to give them my old phone to take to the park or out biking without a second thought but I'm pretty protective of my Treo!
