What do you think of Rachael Ray's Get Real cookbook?

Has anyone bought Rachael Ray's Get Real cookbook, about low-carb/healthy eating? My BF is starting South Beach, so I'm on the hunt for a bunch of recipes that both he and I (a carb lover) will want to eat! I usually love Rachael's stuff, but I'm not sure if this book is worth it...what do you think?

Is this book "low carb"? I guess I didn't realize that. I thought it was just "lighter", healthier eating. Hmmmmm...

I'll watch this thread carefully, too!

    Thanks,

I haven't seen it, but I think it is a very moderate version of low-carb. For instance, she has done a salad recipe on her show where she uses just a small amount of pasta and lots of veggies, and she mentions how it is a more balanced way to eat. She has done lots of shows like this - not straight low-carb, more de-emphasizing the carbs.

I lost 16 pounds on the South Beach diet. I am not doing the diet anymore, but I am eating much healthier as a result of it. I saw a thread on this book a few days ago and decided to buy it. I haven't had much time to look through it, but a few recipes did catch my eye. I look forward to hearing from other people who bought it!

Lone dissenter, I guess, but I am not all that impressed with it. I have a couple of her other cookbooks and really like them. This one, not so much.

Matter of taste, I guess. I'm not sure that I would call her cookbook "healthy" though. There are some recipes that call for (in my mind) a lot of EVOO. More so than her other cookbooks. Her portion size is still very large too - one recipe calls for 2 lbs of meat for 4 servings.

Thanks! I think I'll probably pass on this one, but I am looking forward to her October book...
