    Anyone tried Tibetan goji berries?

I found this while searching for something else. I wonder if all of this is true. Has anyone tried them?

The Tibetan Goji Berry, grown in the Himalayan Mountains of Tibet, is loaded with nutrients and powerful Antioxidants. The Goji Berry contains 18 Amino Acids, (six times higher than bee pollen) more Beta Carotene than carrots, more Iron than spinach, 21 Trace Minerals, and 500 times more Vitamin C by weight than oranges! The 13 % protein in the Goji Berry is higher than whole wheat, and displays an insulin like action that is affective in fat decomposition. The Goji Berry is loaded with many other vitamins and minerals including Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamins B1, B2, B6, and Vitamin E. Truly an incredible food and the best part is the Goji Berry tastes great! Sweet and delicious!

Here is the link where I found it:

I have seen these in our Whole Foods and wondered what they were. As to what you do with them, I can't imagine. Cook them in yak butter?

BTW, your post made me want to give them a try. They have the dried type at WF's. Before, I was a little leery of them.

I bought some dried ones at Costco yesterday. I think they're very tasty. I can eat them out o fhand, I sprinkled some on a salad I made, and I could easily see them being added to cereal/baked goods, etc.

Hmm. I'll have to try them.

I have a hard time getting in a daily supply of vitamin c since I'm allergic to oranges and apples. I can't just grab an orange or a glass of juice. Forget about popping into the juice bar--looking in that place makes my head swell.

Those goji berries have 500 times the vitamin C of an orange? I wonder what they taste like.

I've seen them at trader joes - they sell them as part of a fruit/nut trail mix, but I haven't tried them yet.

Anna reviewed them on her blog several months ago.

    Goji Berries.

Seems she liked them, and she got some interesting comments about them as well.

Pippin: What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?

I sometimes use dried goji berries in my homemade granola as a substitute for dried cranberries - they taste different from cranberries but have a similar bittersweet flavor.

Celestial Seasoning makes a tea with goji berries if you'd rather drink your nutrition! It's very good...

I really wanted (and still want) to like them because they are a fabulous source of anti-oxidants, but the brand I bought turned me off of them. I gave them away to a friend who is a more dedicated health nut than I . Other brands may taste better than the ones I bought, but just thinking about them makes me queasy.

There are other really good sources of antioxidants out there. Acai juice is much better tasting in my opinion -- even my daughter likes it.

I still plan on trying some more goji berries; maybe just in a different form. The juice is appealing, but a bit pricey.

I Really, Really Don't Like These

Our Whole Foods store has goji berries out as samples almost every day. I tried them about 5 times, because they just look so good. I keep attempting to like them....but I really, really don't like them!
