    Question Oiling wooden cutting boards

I love my wooden cutting board, and have used it for years. However, besides washing it when I've used it, and once wiping it down with clorox per recommendation of a friend - and that bleached out the woods' nice look (no kidding! ) I was wondering what kind of, or even if I should do some sort of oil treatment on it from time to time. If so, what kind of oil would I use?
    TIA
    Susan

The DH of a friend of mine made me a beautiful cheese board a few years ago. He recommends mineral oil.
Life is all about a$$; you're either covering it, laughing it off, kicking it, kissing it, busting it, trying to get a piece of it, behaving like one, or you live with one.

I don't oil my cutting board, but I do have a gorgeous Ulu bowl and that I do oil, with mineral oil, every couple of months (even though it's mostly decorative). Spread out some newspapers, put the oil on a paper towel and oil the board liberally, let it sit for about 5 minutes and then wipe off any excess.

Mineral oil. But make sure your cutting board is COMPLETELY dry before doing it as the oil can lock in any moisture.

And, make sure you use FOOD GRADE mineral oil. You can find it in cookware shops like Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
