Just got an Ipod Shuffle! Have a question...help!

I just bought the 240 song Ipod Shuffle, and I am very excited about it. I am using it for exercise almost exclusively, and I am looking forward to not lugging my CDs to the gym!

Here is my question: My Ipod had an amber blinking light when I plugged it into my USB port. The instructions say that this means I am using it as a "disk." If I wasn't, it said it would be a green light when charged. So, am I supposed to be using it as a disk? If not, how do I change it? And what exactly am I changing it to?

(sorry if these are dumb questions!)

    TIA!!

I don't have the shuffle, but the mini, but do you have iTunes loaded on your computer? With the mini, once it's plugged into the computer, iTunes automatically comes up to update or do what you want to do with the iPod.

I think you're overanalyzing. Mine blinks amber when plugged into the USB port--which acknowledges that the computer knows it's there. Then I can upload songs or simply let it charge. Basically, the shuffle is a glorified memory stick/flash drive.

    I agree (overanalyzing .

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my shuffle. I actually listen to a lot of audio books while powerwalking. Hint: to listen to an audio book, the shuffle (obviously) has to be in the mode to play consecutively; but (if you also have songs on your shuffle at the same time) you must give the book tracks a 5-star rating and sort the "songs" by rating. Doing this will allow the book tracks to end up at the top of your list of "songs" and will play consecutively. Even if you turn it off before listening to the whole book, which is generally the case, the shuffle will start back up where you left off. SO COOL!
