    Digital Oven Thermometer

Has anyone used the Taylor Digital Oven Thermometer/Timer? I was looking to buy one but have never used anything like this before. Amazon has this one on sale plus the gold box special savings.

I have one made by Taylor that I bought at Williams-Sonoma. I knew I would spend a little more at WS, but my last digital thermometer like this died an early death, and if I had bought it at WS it would have been replaced for free. (if you use it on broil, they will not replace it--but I did not do that twice. )

I love this type of thermometer. I consider it a must have. It takes all the guess work out of chicken, roasts, turkey... I've even used it on the grill. (my grill has a thermometer on the cover so I know when it is too hot to use)

Thank you mbrogier for responding. I went ahead and bought it. The thought of not having to open the oven door all the time just to try and read the thermometer sounds wonderful.

You won't know how you ever lived without it. The themometer will tell you what the current temp of the meat is, so you'll know how fast it is cooking. With experience, you'll get to where you can guestimate how much longer the turkey will take, so you can put in your other dishes and have everything ready together.

I've also used the thermometer as a candy thermometer--it should have a clip with it that will clip it to the side of a pot.
